Q400 'Nav' autopilot indicator

Hi

 

I recently purchased the Q400 and am love learning to fly this plane.

I am having a small problem.. when I am tracking a vor, I cant see any NAV or Nav loc indicator on the digital display. I can see VOR 1 and the freq and DME info, everything tracks fine. When Im in heading mode it says 'HDG SEL' in green and I can see my VS and ALT fine.. just no NAV.  Is there somewhere else I should look?

You should try changing the radio frequency or the input information for the PFD. You can change it in the autopilot panel to Vor1, Nav1, FMS1

Yea, Im able to successfully change the nav source to the vor and track radials fine.  I just cant tell when im engaged in Vor loc mode.  The VOR information always show up in the bottom right in blue when youre in range of it.  

Yet above the artificial horizon, where notifications like HDG SEL, ALT, and VS +800 etc are in green.. there is never anything for NAV.

 

I can obviously tell when the AP is locked to the VOR when my plane rolls by itself, but sometimes when im already close to the correct heading its hard to tell.  There may be no change in heading when I hit the NAV button on the VOR panel.  I wont notice im not locked in until the lines on the HSI start going out of sync.

Mhm.

 

I only use Nav Mode for the FMS Tracking. So if i have a route i switch to FMS source and Click on NAV.

Heres a better example of my problem.  Where the red #1 is at the top left..  VOR APP in white never appears for me.  HDG SEL shows up fine.

Anyone with the Q400 who has any ideas please post them it would be much appreciated!

Do you use 32 or 64 bit?

Im on 10.25 64 bit Windows 7

I thought it could have been a 32bit problem, but you are using 64bit so i have no clue

Its not such a big deal while flying.. minor inconvenience.  Still a bit confusing.

I think the Q400 needs some Work and an update…

Perhaps it would be a better idea to get support for the Q400 directly from the developer.
