krogerfoot Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 Hi all. I've been working on an XP10 airport forever now, and despite my best efforts I'm nearly finished. The terminal building has a large atrium, into which I've added rows of chairs and other details, and it all looks great as long as the sun is shining through the windows. How can I hang lights inside the building itself? And, is it possible to attach lights to the exterior, to illuminate entrances, signs, and so forth?I read through this post and tried to follow along, but it was basically like teaching a dog to program a VCR. Any way to do this in WED? How does one add illumination to objects? Quote
krogerfoot Posted October 28, 2012 Author Report Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) OK, after throwing a day away on this, I've gone a few steps sideways. I should have mentioned that I'm mainly modeling in Blender and have managed to export obj files with lights. The lights I hung in the interior areas were invisible behind the transparent texture on the window. I don't really understand how transparency works and have had all kinds of unexpected results there. I gather that attaching lights to structures is more a matter of editing the obj files in a text editor? I see the Blender2XPlane script gives you the option to assign custom lights in Blender, but can you assign all the parameters in a way that will work in X-Plane scenery?
