Hawk UK Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 Just wondering if with XP10 now able to utilize as many CPU's/Cores as you have available, does this mean that XP10 would now run faster/efficient on the AMD FX Bulldog 8 core cpu than an Intel i7 Quad/Six core cpu? Assuming that both systems would utilize 16GB of RAM with lets say a top graphics card with minimum of 2GB VRAM.Interesting question... Hoping some of you guys/girls can shed some technical light on this subject? Hawk.
Kieran Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 From what I understand, X-Plane is getting better for multi-threading, but it isn't great. It can uses other threads for AI aircraft and loading, but not for drawing things, which takes up most of the CPU.So while more threads will help fps, clock speed at the moment is more important.
Hawk UK Posted October 12, 2012 Author Report Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the info, Kieran! I think I'll probably have to settle for an Intel i7 by the sound of things..... Just wish someone with an AMD Bulldozer could leave a word on it's performance with XP10.... Anyone?? Edited October 12, 2012 by Hawk UK
