Airbus Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 This is ment to be a slow going project, I first started this plane back in the spring of 2008. Ive built four versions of the Starship so far the third file was lost when my computer went out( I seriously almost cried!). I stayed away from it for a while and decided to fully work on it a few months ago. I'm not sure how long It will take to finish it, Its more of a self goal project. Its like having a garage of cars you've built, buy you have one in your collection that you love to tinker with no matter how long it takes to complete. Here is what she looks like today. Quote
Jacoba Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 The Beech Starship is by far the most elegant looking creation built by man to ever fly. So sad they are all but gone.I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to fly one, right seat on a trip from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale and back in 1996. At times it was almost surreal to be pacing and in one case overtaking a Cessna Citation at a lower altitude. .58 to .60 Mach @ FL410 in a turboprop is something else! Quote
Jacoba Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Possible paint scheme candidate? ;D Quote
Airbus Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 Oh yah that would look awesome! ;D Thanks for the photos! Lucky you got to ride in one! I envy you !! Quote
Gjalp Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 That has to be the sexiest thing I have ever seen! I thought the exterior modelling was great but the pit is going to be something else!!! These are indeed fine days to be a supporter of X-Plane Slainte,Andrew GormanNZCH Quote
Jacoba Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I don't know how detailed Airbus plans to make this one but personally I'd love to see him program up a proper set of EFIS displays as well as a proper FMS.The FMS on the Starship was a unique little critter, not a true FMS in todays sense of the vernacular. It was manufactured by Collins Avionics and designated the CMA-764. The "box" you see in the cockpit was nothing more than a universal control head. Navigation was not via GPS but by VLF/Omega Long Range NAV System and scanning DME.This would make a wonderful high end add on for XP! Quote
Kesomir Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 The canards in pics look either level or swept back but the xplane model's look swept forward.Might be a perspective trick though. Quote
Airbus Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 Yep they are forward in the X-Plane picture, I added the animations I need to work on the sweep motion. Jacoba,I want to get everything working on the Starship, just need to find a way (or someone) to program the cool systems it has. Quote
Jacoba Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Hey Airbus,Any updates on this project? Quote
