OlaHaldor Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 For the heck of it, I've started working on some WED stuff on a relatively small airport, yet it's taking on B737's. Taxiing is done on the runway and in the end of it, there's an area to turn around. This is marked by a center line.I tried to make ATC taxi routes to follow the center line, but every single AI plane makes the turn a long way before they hit this area. It looks really stupid, because they start to go outside of the runway. I wonder how I can fix this and make them taxi the right way. Quote
TumbleGrum Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Hi OlaHaldor, I'm having the same problem and I've noticed that if you bring up the Dev console (Specials menu) you may see heaps of messages saying that ATC could not find a route for a particular plane. It seems that there is little information available at this time on how to actually create valid taxi routes. Meanwhile, all we can do is try out different stuff and hope that it works! Have you read the document at: http://developer.x-plane.com/2012/01/atc-taxi-layouts/ It at least gives some idea of what's required, but does not explain how to do any of it (grumbles !@#$%). Quote
chris k Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) Look harderThere's a whole series of screencasts Chris Serio made detailing precisely how to make Taxi networks. http://developer.x-plane.com/2012/10/screencast-creating-atc-taxi-networks-in-worldeditor-v1-2/ Edited August 18, 2013 by chris k Quote
OlaHaldor Posted August 19, 2013 Author Report Posted August 19, 2013 I've watched it, but it doesn't look to work with airports where the planes have to turn at the end. Multiple airports in Norway have the kind of setup where the entrance and exit might be in the middle of the runway, thus the planes need to taxi to one end, turn around, and take off. After landing, turn around at one end and taxi back to the terminal. In my experience what happens in X-Plane is the planes taxi way outside of the runway, falling into the water, tumbling down a hill, or just completely stop. Quote
andydckent Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Yup on the ones I have tried they seem to manage to turn at the end and then speed off in a random direction (not along the runway heading).... Quote
