JimC Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Great Scott....So...it seems that after much wavering and consternation, and after readingabout all the 'features' v.10 was supposed to have, I still find it...lacking.I feel like I was sold a bill of goods, but I digress.....It looks like I'll have to invest in v.9.7 (again; can't find my originals), as it appearsto be way more of a finished product. Also, there appears to be more scenery, more aircraft, more of everything that I wouldlike to see (and use), and I'm not sure how well my computer would run v.10 maxedout anyway. What d'you guys think? v.9.7 over v.10? Comments appreciated...Jim 2 Quote
chris k Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Correct - That X-Plane 9.70 is indeed a "complete" product.XP10 is a "work in progress" for now. As many users have suggested, they will wait till about release 10.3 or so as all the kinks are worked out, and the number (and quality) of XP10 specific scenery/aircraft/etc.. which can take advantage of the new features are developed.Note that most things you have for XP9 work perfectly well in XP10. (You do not necessarily need an "X-Plane 10" version of manythings, as much of what was produced for XP9 is forward-compatible with XP10).Again, "watch this space" is probably the correct mantra to have - if you're looking for a Rock-solid product with lots of current material and support, stick with X-Plane 9. However, this will change (over time) as XP10 gets out of it's teething pains and matures into a more finished product.- CK. 1 Quote
dpny Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 At the moment, v10 has a lot of promise, most of it unfulfilled. Stick with v9 for now. 1 Quote
