zoltron_rulez Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) All,If you did not come across the Outerra engine, here are some vids I recently really enjoyed:http://www.outerra.c...php?topic=390.0http://www.outerra.c...php?topic=337.0http://www.outerra.c...php?topic=243.0http://www.outerra.c...php?topic=313.0 (Don't try this in real life)http://www.outerra.c...php?topic=267.0 (sunset, aaaaaah) (I heard from the forums, you can create your own models)To add, all these run on current gen video cards with excellent frame rates as reported by beta testers. Also found out, it is coming out soon, I definitely will pay every penny if this includes entire earth (and I heard it does):http://www.outerra.c...php?topic=553.0Enjoy. karingka Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Wait, so is this a flight simulator or just a world engine? Quote
falloutgamer65 Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 I think its a world engine. Quote
Jack Skieczius Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 What i have yet to see is cities and weather. Sure a lot of things look great but with great scenery comes poor flight model. Quote

larjeet Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 zoltron_rulez if you have such a problem with Xplane 10 Why do you even bother to hang around here Quote
chris k Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 He's like the guy who shows up at the Volkswagen Car Enthusiasts Club, with a Ford, and proceeds to tell everyone how good his Ford is. =)And everyone just stares.....- CK. 1 Quote
zoltron_rulez Posted January 24, 2012 Author Report Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) zoltron_rulez if you have such a problem with Xplane 10 Why do you even bother to hang around hereBefore you write a response next time, answer this question for yourself:Why do you think that I (or anyone) for this matter of fact who makes a statement about actual fact or reality is immediately making a personal attack on X-Plane?I simply stated the facts based on what the facts are. Read my comments more carefully. I don't really care whether you fly X-Plane or FSX, that's not the point.I came across next gen software that shows true potential of the hardware and if X-Plane is behind that's not my problem, neither your problem. If you're on Laminar's payroll, well, maybe instead of attacking new ideas, should bring these forth for whom you work. Edited January 24, 2012 by zoltron_rulez 1 Quote

For this matter of fact I will not post anymore technological news so people don't get upset anymore. Save your personal remarks please, they're not neccessary. Baber20 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 zoltron_rulez if you have such a problem with Xplane 10 Why do you even bother to hang around hereA bit harsh don't you think ?Nevertheless outerra is great but it is not yet a Flight Sim. So no point comparing it with X-Plane. Quote
karingka Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 I agree with zoltron on what larjeet said. It was just a simple comparison, very far from an x-plane "attack". Quote
larjeet Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 That's correct, demo has limited scenery. I look at different previews on http://xplane10.wordpress.com/, they look at different items in X-plane from terrain to lighting, clouds, etc.I am not sure of the flight model but, ..in the vid Cessna landing, the aircraft interaction with the landscape looked much more realistic then what I see in X-Plane where the plane surfaces go through things.I am going by the fact that 'zoltron_rulez' is going by pictures and videos and very little if no hands on experience . alpilotx Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 And if you thin this is technology "news" ... well, not really "new". Even Ben Supnik commented on this topi a bit more than one(!) year ago!http://developer.x-plane.com/2011/01/plausible-realistic-procedural-and-algorithmic/But yes, as an engine its interesting ... zoltron_rulez Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) I am going by the fact that 'zoltron_rulez' is going by pictures and videos and very little if no hands on experience .I have X-Plane 9 full version, and X-Plane 10 demo. Also, the beta, is out you're aware of that right? I dont have the beta but I have comments from people who have beta. Hence, I did not compare the flight models of the two, I just stated my observations. In regards to landscape where I did state facts, pictures, vids, are sufficient to compare actual terrain, you don`t need to fly in it. And that`s what my previous post was mostly about.Since you're desparate about facts, after I purchase I will write a review here, and certainly will just further fortify the points I made about the landscape. That will take care of your that, you certainly will have all your facts. Edited January 27, 2012 by zoltron_rulez Quote
