Cessna 172 NAV III: Flight to Miami Intl Airport

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi everyone,

Here's a video I made of the flight a friend and I did from Sarasota Intl Airport (KSRQ) to Miami intl Aiport (KMIA)

Miami international was an incredibly busy airport, thus making for a very interesting approach. Also, at 3:05 you can spot a dreamlifter parked on the tarmac.

Apologies for the landing slightly off the centerline, but it was windy :P

Enjoy!

Nice video dude - what did you film it with?

Next time, keep more of your cross-wind correction in there, wing-low style. Remember you're trying to keep the longitudinal axis of the airplane aligned with the runway so you're not putting any side-loading on the landing gear. In a 172, its not such a big deal, but when you start getting into retractable gear aircraft, you'll need to pay special care or else you can collapse a gear - not so good! Get into these good habits early, and you'll not have to break bad ones down the road!

Otherwise, great job and keep up the good work!

Thanks man, and I filmed it with a Sony Handycam XR-155 mounted to the visor of the plane using a suction cup.

Thanks for the tips, I'll make sure to use them, and put them to good use tomorrow when I fly the Piper Arrow! :)
