OlaHaldor Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 My sister, a friend and I participated in a short film contest this weekend. 60 hours from idea to finished film. Quite a task..So we headed to the airport to shoot some planes landing. I shot two of them in 50fps to make it nice in slow motion, which was one of the unique ideas we had for the opening shots of the film.Too bad we were in such a hurry, and the sound didn't really work out.But here you go. enjoy.http://vimeo.com/31024849 Quote
ruyjo Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Very nice, I'm impressed by the fact the camera is very stable Quote
OlaHaldor Posted October 24, 2011 Author Report Posted October 24, 2011 Thanks I had the camera (or the lens actually) mounted on a tripod. I shot it with the Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS L, so I had the stabilizer switched on. Worked like a charm. Quote
ruyjo Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Yes, it looks like nothing could make the camera shake. And it's also very handy, a girl for the external microphone Quote
Redfisher Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 7D? I heard that using IS on a tripod caused problems. It looks like it did real well. Quote
OlaHaldor Posted October 24, 2011 Author Report Posted October 24, 2011 (edited) No, 60D. If I couldn't flip the monitor and rotate it as needed, panning around would be way worse than it was. Yeah, I've heard that about IS too, but it worked well. I figured I'd switch it on due to the loose soil I was standing on, as well as the wind gusts. That's probably the last time I'm spotting from that very location, since they're building a new road. It was an open construction site. No barriers. So I didn't really feel like we were trespassing, yet we came so close to the fence! Edited October 24, 2011 by OlaHaldor Quote
Redfisher Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Not a bad location for texture shots? Need a fast prime. Quote
OlaHaldor Posted October 25, 2011 Author Report Posted October 25, 2011 Hmm I dunno about that. It's very far away and it's at a strange angle, so I don't get much of the walls or anything. Quote
Simmo W Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Nice Ola! You can certainly see the difference in those planes, that little GA really battled with the crosswinds, and the jet...looked as fast as...a jet. That's one very good lens there. Quote
