rainmaker Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 Hi,I am new to this forum. I have purhased the plane last week and I've started to explore it. I noticed that a "track ball" is missing in the Nav Display. Or is it because the CRJ-200 doesn't display a track ball?I know that the real CRJ-900 has one, according to which one can fly tracks without calculating the WCAs. I am preparing for a screening on the CRJ-900, so I thouht I can train at home with your software. Now I've tried to fly VOR modes raw data as well as FMC, but I didn't notice there was a track bug (should be green) near to the HDG bug. Or could it be that I'm not doing something right!I've seached for the information in the manuals too. Thanks,Rami Quote
TOBS Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Hi,that would be really great to get planes in XP which are so deep in the systems that it could be used as a trainer for the real one - but it is not like this. Although we have some planes which go quite deep into the systems XP is still a game. Of course there is a FAA certified version but this is only for some GA with special Addons. The flight behavior of some planes might be very realistic but the systems not. And this counts for every XP model. It is just to much for an XP model. I am sure Javier will improve where it is possible but it will stay always "incomplete". And this incomplete counts for every XP model. Cheers Tom Quote
rainmaker Posted July 9, 2011 Author Report Posted July 9, 2011 Hi Tom,Thanks for your reply.Indeed, the CRJ's flight dynamics are very realistic, especially the simulation of its attitude when extracting the flaps and undercarriage. I have FSX with wilcos CRJ, difference between the two is obvious (though wilco's CRJ has a Track Ball, amazingly enough!) This was also a main reason why I have shifted to X-Plane. Now you have mentioned that there are planes, made for XPlane, with very realistic system simulation. Can you pls point out some for me? I'm having difficulties finding one, searching the net and downloading freewares, testing them.. then deleting them! I want to avoid a similar scenario for paywares.Javier's CRJ is the first payware plane I got for XP after all the positive reviews I read about.Regards,Rami Quote
philipp Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 If I'm not mistaken, the ND shows "TRK up" while the HSI on the PFD shows "HDG up". But whether there's an additional "ball" on the ND I would have to look up in the Collins Manual. If there is one, I will add it.Philipp Quote

The CRJ goes quite far! And I think Javier and Phillip will improve it as far it is possible. Peters A380 is another payware which goes quite far in the systems and has grat flight dynamics including FBW and the the QPAC A320 (freeware). Did you try the Pilatus PC12 of Shade Tree Micro or Carenado.Cheers Tom Quote
rainmaker Posted July 9, 2011 Author Report Posted July 9, 2011 Hi Phillip and Tom,Thanks for fast replys.I am new to X-Plane ( since a month). Before I used to fly FS9 and FSX. I still have them, however I decided to train myself on the X-Plane as I'm taking flying more seriously now. I will be starting my IR/CPL training in a month, and afterwards need to prepare for the Lufthansa Cityline assessment (on the CRJ-900). I know that it's different than the 200, but flying with your CRJ with the speeds for the 900 should be sufficient for me at least for my training. One of the most important characteristics of the 900 is the "track ball" ( a green circle ) which makes it much easier to fly tracks in XWinds. However, I really don't know if it is only available for the CRJ900's ND.As I said, your fantastic work has encouraged me to buy the CRJ, as the first payware A/C for the XP. As my training will be ona Piper Arrow IV and the multi Engine on the PA44 Seminole, I have decided to purchase the piper package of Air.C74.net. To be honest, I'm disappointed, since the cockpit (at least for the arrow and seminole) doesn't match the real planes. This is important for me to get familiar with the check lists and memorize the items, and to have an idea where every switch is roughly positioned. the problem I'm facing is, when flying those piper in X-Plane, theor flight dynamics, stability and how it feels is nearer to real flying than compared with carenados pipers for FSX (in my opinion). In FSX I have the other side of the problem: They are very unstable to fly and tend to perform poor maneouvers. However, the cockpit is soo well simulated with almost 1:1 match to the real A/C. It's a kind of unstatisfying result for both sims. Any advice from ur side would be much appreciated.@Tom: I have downloaded the x737, flew it couple of times, but still not enough to develop an opinion about it. Just compared with PMDG's work (737 for FS9), I found that the PMDG has a deeper system implementation than x737's.I will certainlt have a look at the A380 u've mentioned. For general aviation aircrafts I'm currently interested in a good Piper Arrow and a Multi Engined piston A/C (Seneca, Baron...) Unfortunately no success till now.By the way, some engineers (I think a contractor for Airbus) in Hamburg / Germany have developed an A320 for X-Plane. The A/C external is not that exciting, however they mentioned that they could simulate the A/C's normal law (including protections) and some of the Automated conrol systems (freeware). If you are interested, this is the link: Meanwhile, I'm very thankful for any advice for good implemented XP planes and any further developements of the great CRJ.Regards,Rami Quote
rainmaker Posted July 9, 2011 Author Report Posted July 9, 2011 I just saw that u have mentioned the QPAC already :-) Quote
TOBS Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 I just saw that u have mentioned the QPAC already :-)And do not forget to look for the RAMZZESS and FELIS planes - till now all russian but very good!Cheers Tom Quote
Kesomir Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 I think it could be possible to transplant the flight model from the c74 piper to replace the flight model from Caranedo - thus getting your best of both worlds plane. I don't play much with planemaker myself, so don't know the details of how it would be done. If you're lucky then a delete, copy paste maybe. Quote
rainmaker Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 @kesomir: According to readings I made about this subject, there is no assurance for a satisfying solution yet, meaning that the conversion process will be time consuming and would probably demand lots of custumizing work, which I don't have. If you can guide me to a link to download ready-to-install "converted" twin engine piston engined planes (Senecas, Barons) with a Carenado 3D cockpit, I'd be very thankfull. To do it myself would glue me me days on the PC.@Tom: Thanks for the russian planes. I'll certainly have a look at that.@Phillip: Inserting the trackball is not hard to program, especially if CRJ manuals contain values /equations / approximation formulas for angles of slideslip. I can send you a colored detailed images of the PFD and ND, both including the trackball, that I've received from the airline for training purposes.Cheers,Rami Quote
