GPS became out of sync with flight plan

I was flying the tutorial flight, via GPS, (obviously)  and the pink dot to the left of KBOS never advanced to PUT. (the next waypoint.)

My question is: how do you make PUT the active waypoint?

On the GPS:

- select FPL to display the plan

- activate the cursor

- scroll down to highlight PUT

- select menu

- select Activate leg

This is from memory so the buttons may not be quite right
