Entering data into FMS fails

I need help. I'm trying to set up a flight plan, but I cannot enter anything into the FMS. Whatever I do after pressing FPLN there's these small green rectangles and the words "NOT IN DATABASE". I really cant enter anything. What am I (or God forbid X-Plane 11) doing wrong?
