WattyA Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Hello All, I have recently purchased the Carenado PC12 and have not been able to fly it. I am on windows 10 have an amd randeon r9 200 with 8gigs of ram. Whenever I turn my avionics on in the PC12 my fps plummets from 28 to 15, I can't get more than 18 with the minimum rendering settings, I checked my other aircraft and have no issues, JAR320, IXEG, FF757 etc. I checked my ram, it is nowhere close to max, and the video card isn't working hard at all. I have an updated driver and x plane 10.50. I have attached screen shots of the issue as well as the log.txt file and the video card settings. Any help is appreciated. Thanks~Alex Log.txt Quote
StefanH75 Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 I also recognized getting lower FPS with Carenado's planes compared to others. In your case I hardly guess your CPU is the bottleneck. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html Quote
WattyA Posted September 28, 2016 Author Report Posted September 28, 2016 Hey Stefan, I don't think that is the issue, I've got an i5 3.20 GHz and I know someone with the same thing and they are getting 35-40 on avg. Any other suggestions? Quote
WattyA Posted September 28, 2016 Author Report Posted September 28, 2016 Just confirmed it wasn't the cpu, this is the cpu while running the game... Quote
StefanH75 Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 Remember, X-Plane is using only one core, so single core performance is relevant. Your CPU utilisation monitor is displaying the overall usage. I made exactly the same experience like you, not with an I5-4460, but an AMD. Also the Radeon is not the best choice for X-Plane, due to worse OpenGL drivers compared to NVidia. Gesendet von meinem SM-G900F mit Tapatalk Quote
raven1982 Posted October 3, 2016 Report Posted October 3, 2016 @WattyA - I've had the same issue. The single core usage is the limiting factor here. I'm running i7-8500 with a Nvidia GTX 1080 and still see drops in performance with the Carenado aircraft. Check out this link, it helped me in changing a few settings around. http://developer.x-plane.com/2011/12/tips-for-better-frame-rates-pt-1/ It is a shame that some of the Carenado aircraft cause such a large fps drop. If you don't mind me asking what are you averaging for the IXEG? That is my next purchase. Quote
WattyA Posted October 5, 2016 Author Report Posted October 5, 2016 @raven1982Thanks , I usually average around 30 fps with he ixeg, it is very easy on the frames and a joy to fly! 1 Quote
raven1982 Posted October 6, 2016 Report Posted October 6, 2016 Thank you, looking forward to flying it soon! Quote
