...and bought myself a Logitech G13. It will suit my needs at the office. Programmable, backlit buttons. Three "pages" of them too which all can be assigned different backlit colors for easy identification of what button set is currently loaded in the current profile. Excellent for 3D, compositing and color grading, which is some of what I do on a daily basis.

And I took the baby home to test it with X-Plane. To my surprise, I cannot use the mouse to control the plane any more - I have to use the little "joystick". With my left thumb.. *sigh* It's hard to get into, but I had a nice circuit around LEMU now with a smooth landing. Getting better at it!

But I've assigned loads of buttons which is reachable from anywhere, and I've only filled page one - two more pages to go, which I can fill with stuff like bringing up a GPS and using the keys to navigate it, autopilot, lights, gear, flaps, view options, you name it.

The reason for selling my yoke, throttle, pedals and switch panel? I simply don't have time to use it as much as I'd like. At least not now. And boys gotta have new toys!  :)

Interesting move Ola - you have a lot of creative talent, and I can understand that priorities change. Should be interesting to fly with one's left thumb on that thing. I had a profile on my Thrustmaster Cougar once for Falcon 4 where I could transfer joystick axis control from the joystick (on the go) to the thumb mouse controller on the throttle. This was helpful to gain better resolution when designating targets on the MFD's. So you select this mode, and suddenly you fly the jet with this small thumb controlled joystick while the big one moves the cursor. Took some getting used to.

Now you can fly with your left hand and drink coffee with the right at the same time!  :)

Hehe, true. I've assigned a button for "3D Cockit mouse look" instead of just "3D cockpit". It's a blast having the freedom of moving around like this. Even though it's not TrackIR, it really helps a lot on the "realism" in that matter.

Video will be coming. :)
