Riverboat Dave Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 Newbie Here. When I'm in an airport and tune my radio to the comm channel for the ground, ATIS or tower, should I be hearing some sort of communications? I can't seem to pick up anything on the plane's radio. Thanks! Quote
mmerelles Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 (edited) I am assuming you are on the ixeg733 or what aircraft? you will not hear anything by default on the comm frequencies (clearance, ground, tower) unless you are making active use of ATC feature or an online network. but you should hear ATIS automatic weather information reading by tuning the proper frequency (and being in range!!!) please follow the following steps to confirm: 1. sit your aircraft at KSNA (John Wayne) 2. select ready to fly mode on the IXEG preferences so you do not have to mess with electricity issues if you are unsure. 3. tune KSNA ATIS weather frecueny: 126.00 and switch it to active (user your comm radio1 left side of the pedestal, comm radio 2 audio right side is off by default you need to know how to enable it) you show start hearing the audio.... note: -double check audio is properly set on setings->audio -audio uses operating system synth speach, it should be available hope this helps Edited June 28, 2016 by mmerelles Quote
Riverboat Dave Posted June 30, 2016 Author Report Posted June 30, 2016 Thanks ever so much! I was able to get the ATIS at several airports (including John Wayne), although I'm not sure what "ixeg733" means. If you have a chance, can you direct me to info on activating the ATC feature or on how an online network might function? And yet another question if I may. On the map screen, I can scroll in and out but the display seems limited. It there a way to display a different (adjoining) geographic areas without moving the plane on the map? I found the "planet map" but it seems of little use. I'm used to MSFS where you can move around the entire continent to find VORs and such for flight planning. Does x-plane do this? Again, thanks for your help. Quote
