  1. I didn't mean to seem overly concerned about Gizmo. I was mostly curious about it's role with the CRJ. I guess I need to do some reading to learn more about Gizmo.
  2. I keep seeing references to Gizmo and hearing about different experiences between .org and X-Aviation customer's in this thread and others. I would like to know, what does Gizmo do for this plane? What effects does it control? I've seen this question asked before, but I've never seen a direct answer. If this has been answered in another thread that I haven't seen then I apologize for asking. I'd rather not even have Gizmo in my X-plane folder if it's not needed. If it's not in the .org version, then why is it needed at all?
  3. I hadn't used this plane in quite a while. I'd forgotten just how good it is. I'm hooked again. This is the only plane (that I've noticed anyway) that will list from side to side when you turn sharply on the ground. It makes the ground handling seem very, very real. It feels good in the air too. I got so immersed that when I flew into Tom Curtis' KLAS scenery, I thought I could step out, go over to the strip and hit the casinos Back to reality now
  4. I didn't think the sounds were changed. I was very tired when I made that post and I didn't put it very well. I was just saying that I didn't see what was different about the start up. And on another note, I was pointing out a couple of things that I thought would make the start up even better. I thought it would be a violation of your copyright if I modified sound files and then shared them. All I did to the sounds was lower the amplitude on the APU sound so it wouldn't sound so loud. And I added a fade out to the start sounds and adjusted the length so that N1 was done spooling up when the sound file finished playing. I didn't get it perfect, but closer anyway. Probably not really worth sharing.
  5. To be honest, I don't see how the engine start is more realistic. There are two things that I feel could be greatly improved. 1. The engine start sounds cut out abruptly and are not in sync with the spool up. 2. The apu sounds like you are outside the plane. I have modified these sounds to suit me, and after trying this update, I will continue to use my modified sounds. The one thing I can think of that would make this simulation even better is the Dream Engine sound that was developed by Dreamfoil Creations. I'm not complaining, this is a great product. And I know it will keep getting better.
  6. I guess my question about the CG slider and how it relates to the aircraft is really a general X-Plane question that I should've asked elsewhere. I would delete this topic if I could, but thank you for responding.
  7. In the CRJ tutorial we are shown how to calculate weight, load index, and %MAC, and then set the pitch trim accordingly for takeoff and landing. It seems kind of meaningless to do that if you can't set the actual CG at the %MAC that you calculate. I have never used Planemaker and I know nothing about how the CG is determined. All I know is that I have a CG slider on the weight and fuel page that I can move left to move the CG forward or right to move it aft. My question is: is there any correlation between the CG slider and the wing chord (or in this case the MAC)? In other words, is the right position on the slider at the leading edge at the MAC and the left most position at the trailing edge, or is it completely unrelated? Or will moving it have unpredictable results and it's better not to touch it?
  8. Indeed it was Cinema Verite. I had no idea what it's function was or that I had it toggled on. Thank you.
  9. Recently my version 1.2 CRJ in XP9 started to simulate head movement. I have no idea how this happened. I can't find in the manual where it says this option is available. I actually like this effect very much. It allows me to get an idea how hard I'm braking. It also has a neat effect while flying in turbulance. As I'm typing this, the idea just entered my head that maybe it has to do with Conex's Ge-Force plugin. I use both the Jetranger and the Robinson. Could it be that Gizmo is somehow allowing this to happen? If this is actually available in the CRJ, maybe someone can tell me how to turn it on. I would like it to do the same thing in XP 10.
  10. I guess you will probably not be making any more updates to the V9 CRJ, but I was wondering if it will continue to work in V9 indefinitely. What I mean is will the license continue to be active/verified, or will it just stop working because that version is no longer being updated? After reading all of the posts and seeing the frame rates that users are getting in V10, I suspect that I will float back and forth between the two versions until they get it working better.
  11. When I recently purchased the plane I had the same problem. The FPS would drop to 19 with everything powered up. Then I would restart the sim and it would work fine after that. I had to do that every time. When I updated to version 1.2, the problem went away. It still humbles my CPU if I get carried away with the settings around large scenery areas
  12. I'm not knocking the BK117....it's one of my favorites. I was just pointing out that the bell works best with linear control, unlike most others. For yourself, Nicola_M, it's a mute point, because you got rid of your bell. For anyone else, trust me, the bell flies alot better with linear control. Conex tells you in his manual to set it up that way. James Hetfield, that is very interesting. That looks like an affordable way to have a good cyclic control. I'll have to take a look at the Warthog.
  13. After seeing all this talk about how hard the 206 is for you to fly, I'm curious as to what controls you're using and how your control senstivities were set. This helicopter was designed so that a saitek X52 or similar joystick will have very similar sensitvity to the real thing when the sliders are set to full left (linear). While these settings may be too sensitive for say, the 500D, non-linear settings will make the 206 feel extremely lazy. Nils on the other hand recommends full non-linear settings for his BK117. Good luck flying the Bell with it set that way! I've gotten to where I fly all helicopters with all sliders set to linear with my X52 and rudder pedals. I have the other sliders set at full realism. I can hover the 206 right over the portable helipad. I'm not braging, just saying that in my oppinion, with the right sensitivity settings and controls that don't have noisy pots, the 206 is very enjoyable and rewarding to fly.
