here's those 487 pictures b29_1.wmv
-
Will 487 be enough? (in a video of course) if so I should have that many up in roughly 4 hours 30 minutes
-
Those windows have actually been annoying me for a really long time and I actually have already been working on the engine problem for a while it's just that due to the angle of the shot you can't see the engine I had been adjusting
-
Thanks for pointing that out good news is this time this is a really easy thing to fix (though I can't believe I never noticed that)
-
Actually I am not planning on doing any over clocking I was just saying that it should be considered when rating a procesor also thanks for telling me about those three companies.

ok since i only have around five gauges left before i am done with modeling (except for tweaking of the actual model) i am going to start adding animations and such to aircraft because of this it might be awhile before i post another update however hopefully by the end of this (no guarantees) i will be able to release a version with only the exterior complete and a nonfunctional virtual cockpit and then hopefully sometime between august and December release the virtual cockpit anyways here's a render of the exterior of the aircraft since it occurred to me i haven't posted one of these since i started the project (except ones that were closeups of a particular part) also unrelated but since i have never been the worlds best at texturing i was wondering if any one would like to texture this aircraft due note that currently the aircraft is not UV unwrapped due to the fact that i'm not good at texturing and therefore would not know a good layout to UV unwrap something anyways if you would want to please tell me

do note that i limited cycles to only use 4 threads (the same as the i3) i did this because i was using my b-29 as my test model and if you have looked at the thread for it (if you haven't you should) you will see why i couldn't even start to think of rendering times with one thread also i was not saying that the 8350 would be better for x-plane then an i7 (this is due to the fact that i do not own one) but simply to point out that the linked page may not be accurate since it said an i3 is better that an fx 8350 which my little test showed was unlikely and the reason i said they may be biased toward intel was mainly because that some had ??? for the price i didn't know if this meant they were no longer available or something but i figured it was safe to assume that meant the processor was overclocked which actually should be considered since the 8350 was not only designed for overclocking but amd even made automatic overclocking software for it at ksea you'll get 17-18 fps with every object setting turned to average (medium) settings and every thing else at it's lowes due note this was with a 550 ti so it shouldn't be that good anyways the good news is though that the computer was built as a rendering farm not to play games that's what my other computer is for also i still am wondering about any good coolers for an fx 8350
-
i used 4 threads while doing the test because of that
-
Actually it turns out that the amd fx 8350 should have have enough single thread performance since the list you linked might be a bit biased toward intel what I mean by this is note that every intel procesor they test shows it's clock speed well every amd one does not also since I happen to have two computers one which has a 650w power supply, intel i3 quad core @3.4ghz nvidia GeForce gtx 560 1gb, 3tb of hard drive space and 8gb of ram and another computer with a 450 w power supply an amd 8350 8core @3.6 ghz a nvidia 550 ti 1gb, 8 gb ram, and 80 gb of hard drive space and testing showed that the second system could render in blender using cycles faster the the first well doing a more complex model according to your source the first system should have rendered faster
-
As the name suggests currently my fx8350's cooler is really loud and I was wondering if any ody out there knew of a cheap cooler ($50 or less) that works well and is silent ( or almost silent) also even though I don't think you can get a water cooler for $50 I just going to say upfront that currently the case the computer is In has one 120mm fan slot so water cooling is not possible ( I really need a fan thereso I can't possibly place a radiator there instead)
-
I actually happen to own a five monitor setup split across three computers and over time I've found that its not all that expensive to do such a system this is because as long as you have your main system taking most (if not all) of your forward line of sight you can have your other two systems running at 3-10 fps and have it not really bother you also if you have not bought any gauges yet and you have x-plane 10 I would highly recomend the efis app for the iPad it's only $20 (compared to $750 for the desktop version) and works fine plus if your not flying you can still use the iPad for evry day use (in other words this has been written on my efis) do note that this app will drain the battery of the iPad quite fast so I recomend plugging it in while flying.

did some more work on the engineers panel and did one of the compasses and the turn coordinator as well as did a test night render (i realize you can't back textures in the cycles render engine yet that was more for fun) also the compass is so reflective because otherwise you could barely see it much less make out if it looked good or not and made the aft gunners compartment
-
made the bomb bay (minus the doors) and made the norden bomb sight
-
Fixed the fuselage up also i don't see why i can't do a world war 2 era cockpit model as well since the only real modern instrument i would include in the modern cockpit would be a gps and i also redid engines 2&3 (1&4 are slightly shorter then 2&3)
-
Finished most of the tail section (the tail gunners area needs another window and one window needs curved edges) Also finished all of the gun turrets and a few other random little details on the fuselage
-
i am currently basing all modeling off of FIFI this is because of the fact that a color photo is much easier to use then one that is black and white and because since fifi is still in use the commemorative air force actually has a gps in the cockpit which would be nice for users who don't know how to navigate without one but the exterior model should look about the same as one from world war 2
-
i think the reason that the vertical stabilizer is off was because the curve was still pretty bad i tried to refine it a bit more but it still may look off as far as the tail goes though there actually is a very slight curve at the top of the tail but you are right that there are no curves near any of the rudder supports however in my model i had positioned one of my supports near the very top of the rudder so i had to move it down also i am aware that currently the end of the fuselage looks more like the back of 787 engine than part of a b-29 but when i deleted that end of the fuselage it just was way to funny looking so i decided to post these screenshots with it since there more about the rudder and vertical stabilizer not the shape of the back of the fuselage anyway here's the screenshot
-
Actually after staring at some blueprints and comparing them to my screenshots it turns out the tail is the right size but when it begins to slope up it should be a more gradual slope unlike mine which is actually pretty steep and the vertical stabilizer is just a bit to small here are some revised screenshots
-
Ya, I guess I forgot to curve the vertical stabilizer and if you can't decide if it's the angel of the shot again just look to the right of the larger picture there I usually Include the top front and side view angles over there to try to rule out that sort of problem and as far as the rudder and vertical stabilizer being to small i think it's actually the fuselage being to short so I'll have to make it a bit longer and then I can make them the correct size
-
redid the elevators and rudder also i probably should mention that this project will be freeware And to answer what i will be doing after this i probably will be doing a C-46 though i may do a B-24 after that
-
redid the main cockpit area and added 2 of the three seats in the cockpit and added the engineers panel and made the nose gear
-
Working on the Cockpit gauges

hey, i have recently started making a b-29 super fortress for x-plane 10 i am currently work on the exterior 3-d model and am planning to make a fully functional 3-d cockpit however, the model for the plane is currently stuck in blender 2.56 which has a broken export script for x-plane and i was wondering if anybody knew a good way to convert it back to blender 2.49. anyways here are some screenshots inside of blender EDIT: Please note that these were from the first day of development and I have literally deleted and rebuilt every part you can see in this picture to a higher quality standard. However, I will keep these photos here for the sake of comedy.
