i'm using the 777 as a reference because it uses the same steering system as the 787

beautiful work on the rear gears! absolutely perfect! as for the nose gear, there are some things that are clearly off, but seeing how quickly you did the rear gears, i have no worries. just a note, most people don't realize that those two cylinders above the tire actually do some work to steer the plane, you can see in this photo, the cylinders pivot side to side, pushing the tire here's a shot of my own nose gear

Sukhoi Superjet, the Ultimate in X-plane aviation
Michael_Chang replied to Michael_Chang's topic in Payware Reviews
just two photos i found out of the ordinary Also, here in this video, you can see the small flap canoe coverings, speedbrakes and the difference between the x-plane and real-life sukhoi animation sequences. EDIT: hmmm, as it turns out, i've figured out why the plane has those extra engine mounts... these wing textures are of the captain sim 707.. not an SSJ. i had a feelign something was wrong after i looked at the video of teh plane landing. -
So I recently bought the Sukhoi superjet, and I must say i was FLABBERGASTED when I opened up the plane. I'm about to list all of the pros and cons of this magnificent plane Exterior: Pros: I absolutely love the texture job, the fine detailing he has put into each of the default liveries is a thing of beauty. Every meticulously modeled part is both low on the polygon side, yet high on the detail side. The plane also has an extremely accurate exterior (not perfect, but close) to the real plane, from most of the angles that I looked at it. I absolutely love how i can run this plane in x-plane without so much as a dent to my frame rates, the exterior handles beautifully and many of the animations are crisp and clean. Cons: now, although the exterior does feature some incredible detail, there are certain parts of the aircraft that seem to be missing or incorrect. First thing, the flap canoes of the Sukhoi are sharp edged, like the a330, ramzzess made them more or less rounded, at the ends.Tied in with the flap canoes is the actual animation sequence of the flaps. Ramzzess fails to realize that the flaps have to move back and then rotate down, they instead rotate solely by the joint of the flap canoe. Also on the wings, the Speedbrakes. The real SSJ has speedbrakes that are in a continuous line, similar to the a380 or 757. With ramzzess's speedbrakes, there is a gap between the inboard and outboard breaks, similar to the 767 or 777. The plane's flaps also have some issues, mainly that the flaps actually feature flap canoe covers that jut out about five inches above each of the flap canoes. Furthermore, the slat animation sequence appears to be wrong, as the slats don't seem to extend very far during deployment and finally, the default texture has some weird effects going on. The wing looks more like a boeing 707's wing, and on the underside, you can clearly see four pylon marks instead of two. Interior, cockpit, systems Pros: WOW! I've never seen such an interior! the actual cabin of the plane is bright and happy looking, unlike the dingy, dark and dirty-appearing cabins of people like Jrollon. I love how it has a welcoming feel to it, the graphic art and textures are all incredibly crisp and clear. I'm particularly fond of ramzzess's idea to include several busty female passengers seated at various points in the aircraft, although they do appear to be rather square in the chest region. The cockpit of the sukhoi is a gem. Period. The reflection effects are absolutely masterful, I adore the clean, crisp patterns of the flight instruments, and the textures are simply sublime. I'm also a true fan of how he has programmed the plane, and really wish he would share some of his secrets the menus, systems and FBW of the plane are some of the best in x-plane, in my view, and allow the plane to be complex, yet simple, if that makes sense. The systems and flight model are great in all aspects too. I love how smooth the FBW makes the plane during flight, and how easy it is to handle issues and emergencies with the help of the computer. It adds a wonderful depth to the x-plane systems. Cons: The biggest hit I took with the interior, cockpit and systems is how much lagging it causes on my system. Being stuck on a shitty macbook computer, the SSJ is the maximum i can handle without dipping below 20 frames. the cockpit is beautifully done, however i do believe it could have been done with less polygons so as to save frame rates. The same goes for the interior, perhaps if he had thought about reducing and simplifying the walls, and using textures to express detail rather than polygons, it would improve the rendering, and perhaps add some better shape to the passengers Conclusions: All in All, I give this plane an 8.5 out of 10, a few errors, but over all an amazing jet. I strongly recommend that you go out and buy it, because if you're not too picky about details, then it'll be a great plane for you to fly.

i'd love to see a better integration of object design and aircraft design, or simply allow for objects to be designed within planemaker. i'd also love to see them put a limit on how many polygons can be placed on a plane, say 250,000 polygons, because above that, it just gets stupidly heavy in terms of rendering, plus it would allow for much easier rendering on low-end computers. i'd also love to see more diverse datarefs for objects and more integration of modern FBW systems as default in plane's panel systems, such as a more intricate FMS and bugs that indicate your V1, V2, VR etc on the speed indicator

you're right! sorry, the photo i have is of the prototype, not the final release model. however, the design of the forward brace vs the rear brace isn't identical, they are different, you got the rear brace correct, but the forward (drag brace) is not the same, the cross-strut should extend up into the wing again, good job!
-
top left, "yaw damper" sorry XD as for the gears.... idk what's going on here... i think you broke it...
-
amazing work! tires are still a bit wide though, great work overall EDIT: the 787's drag brace and rear strut are different, and they're more square, not cylindrical, keep it up!

don't worry, i won't debate, i'm only here offering criticisms, after all, no plane is going to get better unless someone is there to say what needs improvement.

"You are complaining about the accuracy of the work of Vezirgannis, and you are advising that the windows are painted on? Painted windows look horrible and are only as accurate as the texture used. Anyhow how do you suggest getting the interior to line up with the painted windows that you suggest moving around?" I'm not complaining about it, i'm simply showing areas that need improvement. i don't see any point in not correcting if there are problems in the first place. Painted windows work better in this situation, as i explained, because the 787 has hundreds of different window configurations, and cutting the windows would start limiting accuracy to the real plane. in the case of the interior, the only thing you could do is have non-transparent windows and a single interior OR design a multiple planes with multiple transparent window configurations and multiple interiors with windows that line up. Keiran; have you seen work by Hiroshi Igami? I suggest taking a look at his 767 and 777 models, both were made mostly by photographs rather than blue prints

I see great potential for this 787, and i'll help as much as i can (mostly because we need to replace that payware 787)

here's a reference, the tires are a bit wide

Ramzzess Aviation | Sukhoi Superjet for X-plane 9 and 10
Michael_Chang replied to ruyjo's topic in Videos
i posted this elswhere, but the thing is more than innaccurate visually, i talked to ramzzess already about that and he says he'll make it more visually accurate in the first update -
the artificial stability is on the top left of the overhead

So i'm starting my second project, which is about 40 different 787 packages. Each package will contain one livery, with custom interior and exterior fittings. the planes will feature FBW plugins and a full 3d cockpit, along with a full interior and detailed exterior. A video by Ruyjo1 is available on his youtube channel.

actually kaphias, funny you should mention that i'm making a 787. it's a 787 100000000 times more accurate than heinz's both internally and externally. it will feature a FbW plugin and will be distributed as a one livery per plane package, each package will feature it's own different set of objects (interior seat design and location etc) a video of the first two WIP models (boeing house/ANA and Ethiopian) was done by Ruyjo1. Plus, i think it's unanimously agreeable that heinz's 787 isn't exactly the nicest plane out there (it doesn't even look like the 787) as for the advice, Vezirgiannis, i'd suggest simply painting the windows on, it saves a lot of hassle, plus with painted windows, then it makes it easier for you to change as you please. Another option would be to have the maximum number of windows the plane can have, and then simply format them in a way that makes painting over one of the windows easy (this process is a little harder, but i can explain in detail if you'd like) this is the process i'm using for my 757
-
*another note* I don't suggest designing based on drawings, i suggest designing the plane based on images of the real plane, that way, you can get the most accurate shot. After all, Heinz's 787 looks bad because he didn't reference the real plane when he made his 787
-
a few words, the 787 has a coke-bottle shaped wing faring, so it's kinda like the waist of a woman, the engines of the 787 have a two part exhaust cone, not the one part visible in yours. i'd also not recommend cutting out or placing windows, as each airline has different window configurations (eg, ANA has 8 between the front PAX doors, Ethiopian has 9 and air india has 11 windows) so unless you intend to release each livery as it's own aircraft package, it's not a great idea in terms of accuracy. you can see what i mean in terms of coke-shaped in the picture

well in version 10, i noticed this problem developing it. the plane is designed for performance in V9, and although it doesn't 100% fix the problem, play with the artificial stability switch, sometimes whether it is switched on or not will fix the problem
