  1. Back to the topic...

Brought out my AS350 for a nice flight over EDLK. Scenery is amazing, freeware by ksgy. You can grab Egelsberg Feild here: http://x-plane.hu/edlk/

Rolling her out of the hanger, onto the grassy strip (underlays are BEAUTIFUL). Click the images for full size!

Took off and made a nice loop around the feild. Farmland and forests as far as the eye can see.

    ...Flare!

Overall I would rate this small airfeild 5/5. Amazing underlays and neat objects. Will definitely make more stops at Egelsberg!

  2. I have the JRollon Jetstream 32 and solved the problem with the Saitek panels by deleting the 'Plugins' folder that comes with the J32. This solution works for me because I use the forward only view in X-Plane - ie the cockpit instrument panel is not displayed on the screen, and I have the minimum necessary physical hardware in my 'real' cockpit. Many of the custom controls for this aircraft are not available this way, but I don't miss them, and it flies really nicely.

    Doing that defeats the purpose...

  3. I play minecraft, but I'm not too amazing with redstone. Have played WoT, but I've been playing world of warplanes instead. Just picked up Surgeon Simulator 2013 on Steam lol. Play some FPS's, but I'm not a cod gamer. Play TF2, Chivalry:Medieval warfare and that's about it. Also have farming simulator lol. I feel guilty when I list all these games that are holding me back from X-Plane lol.

  4. The CRJ is an old aircraft, released a few years ago. Until the release of the 777, it held the title of "most realistic" airliner. The eyecandy and visuals are pretty much the same, except the CRJ might be a bit better. Systems are extremely well simulated in the 777, with an awesome FMS. Both CDU's are made by Phillip Munzel, who is an amazingly talented programmer. I would wait for the 757, because it is the best of both worlds. Textures are not cartoony, they are by Kamsin, the avionics are just as realistic, and it is a new HQ airliner to the XP community.

  5. If you don't have any nice addons or anything the default planes are quite nice eye-candy but are very limited in procedures and functionality. This was done on purpose to leave room for 3rd party developers to take over with the high-quality addons. Laminar's priority is  the flight-model and the real time blade-element calculations. I do not know much about FlightGear, but my guess is that it is predetermined flight model calculations, and their main focus (like MSFS and many others) is the eye-candy and marketability. It is a common complaint that Laminar focuses on their highways and do not take much time making an easy to use GUI, but that will take some getting used to since you are switching to a very different sim. Hope this cleared some stuff up :)

  6. Are there any good scenery packs that DO NOT use sattelite or aerial photo imagery for ground texture? It's something I'm personally averse to, I prefer green grass to blotchy sat images with rooftops and treetops stretched onto the globe. :)

There is ABsim and many other great scenery devs. Most high-quality scenery has 3D buildings instead of just a picture of a rooftop painted on the ground. As for the photo scenery, there are many very good packages that do include high-res orthophotos. There isn't really anything wrong with them, unless the actual images are low res.

  7. Amazing plane, bought it a couple weeks ago. Arguably the best external model and very nice interior. The new cockpit texture pack by Slava ranks this plane one of my top 5 favorites. If you set your scenery settings lower then I am confident that this plane will work fine on your mac. Happy flying :)
