I'm running a 2006 mac pro, and happy with the performance at the moment, but that is only because I upgraded the GPU to a Radeon 5870. The point I'm making is that even with a fairly old machine, the GPU has made a HUGE difference, in fact I'm getting as good a performance as a relatively new imac.
I know I'm posting after the fact on this thread, but it might help out someone on the mac side of the fence!
Regards

Thanks for you labours Cameron; really appreciated. Pity they don't make server simulators!

Here's hoping ATI has something to compete with this (for us mac users) this is the sort of card you dreamed about... love to see reports on how it stacks up in XP

File Name: Glenelg, South Australia (Near YPAD)
File Submitter: skyflyer
File Submitted: 09 Jan 2013
File Category: DSF Scenery Packages
X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10
Glenelg, South Australia Photo Scenery (near YPAD)
ISDG (International Scenery Development Group)
v1.1
It is hard to take off or land at YPAD without seeing the cosmopolitan buzz of Glenelg, its Marina and beachfront. Here is a 15cm/pixel orthophoto of this area, SW of YPAD.
This has been designed as a further enhancement of YPAD from our recent package: YPAD Adelaide Airport Photoreal (XP10) 1.1
System Requirements:
X Plane 10.20 or better (64 bit recommended).
a modern video card, minimum 512Mb of VRAM, but with YPAD package also loaded I would suggest a 1GB VRAM minimum, with settings on "Very High" with compression.
Essential Libraries:
UPDATE v1.1
January 28 2013
• 3d objects added:
- Big thanks to Andyrooc for his custom made Glenelg Jetty and Stamford Grand, especially for this package.
_ Big thanks to Ropeless for creating the Norfolk Island Pines and other trees, essential for Glenelg!
– Aussie flags added to pier
– other objects added from OpensceneryX and ruscenery
all are required (except for OpensceneryX which has a placeholder) or this package will crash X-plane!

Hi Gang,
Chris requested a few screenshots of HDR lighting. I've included a screengrab of my settings, as far as my framerates, you will see them in the top left corner, but they rarely drop below 30 now, whereas before all your hard work at tinkering, they would get as low as 20 sometimes. I can only go to 'very high', not 'extreme' res as it acts like a old time slideshow (the ones that went for 2 hours you had to watch...=)

System - Mac Pro 1,1 with 1GB Radeon 5870, 9GB Ram running snow Leopard, and XP 10.10 Beta 2

I initially had the 404 error, but is downloading fine now, and I'll upload it to my mediafire account and forward chris the link as done previously. The link should be up by tomorrow.

Hi Chris,
Here's a start, it's about 30m long, and very basic, but the way I've done the texture mapping, it is easy for me to change ads, and the colour of the legs and frame. I think the real life ones are probably even longer...
See what you think, it would look better with a few tall lights placed hanging over it, if there is one out there.

Leave it to me - I'll have a crack at it! - would you hazard a guess at their real world size? (height and width)

Some development in X-Plane of any description by laminar. At the current rate version 11 is going to be something to enjoy sometime next decade.
