  1. Also Tom you should explore the cirrus quality setting.

And your most recent reply just made milk come out of my nose....you are trying to match wits with an unwilling participant....

I am not really concerned much with your thoughts on anything....

Hehe, milk out the nose, clearly achieved my purpose then ;)))

@Cameron Think about a cozy teddybear while thinking about me, i am harmless but passioned ;)

  2.

X-Plane does not have realistic moon phases and positons.

Thanks, that would explain it :)

Clouds are rotating. This setting is for how fast they rotate. If you don't like rotating clouds at all, set it to 0

A Newtonian physics thing. "Momentum is preserved by all bodies in motion." The molecules in a gas cloud move linearly in random directions until a force is applied [like gravity]. Once influenced by gravity, their momentum shifts from linear to angular momentum [i.e., their trajectory becomes curved]. Whether or not they escape is purely depends on their initial momentum and the strength of the force acting upon them. The ones that lack enough energy to escape are doomed to spiral inward. Example on this is a wall cloud, whether it is as a rotating cloud or just spiral inwards we cannot say, but there is no law or fact the states a cloud is rotating like seen in SMP.

Please feel free to show me references otherwise.

Keep also in mind that I cannot say or do anything to make things go away in SMP, only the creators can do so, but I can offer my opinion and hope that some would agree or even better some would reconize an issue and fix it.

The option is always to remove the package, but that option is not yet an issue.

  3. Hi John

First off all, with best intentions this report is feedback and personal opinions and should  be regarded as positive rather than negative.

Second, thank you for this update and all your hard work!

So I downloaded and installed the new version 2.0 of SkyMaxx Pro. Been using this for a while now and was generally content with the package.

For some reason the cup ran over on this version and I felt like uninstalling it all to never again use it. But rather than act in fury and anger I wanted to

try and advocate it and hopefully get some support/action going.

    First som positive feedback

I just simply love the cloud shadows, I do believe this adds a realism to our simulator that I for one would not continue without.

I love the Hazy Day low contrast theme but with 2.0 also found new possible replacements. However still wishing for the "preview" thumbnail in GUI to be free of rebooting just to check theme.

Well thats about it I am affraid to say, with some tweaking I did manage to get some use of the clouds and I must admit it is way better than default, så cudos on that too.

Then there are the rest and top of my murder list is the "cirrus" clouds

Let me say this first, I do hope this is HDR core feature issu and not SMP

Anyway, here goes the things I do not like

    1. Cloud reflections

    - Still dvelling about weither it's good nor bad. I do not even know how it looks in real life either, so this I leave for now.

    2. God rays

    - Horrible but works and perticular small areas and situation, however with the settings turned to about 5-7% ish..

Defend? Well it seems they shine way through the clouds and ends up more like x-ray beems rather than sunrays. Not sure if it is intended that way or even reflects true runrays, but

what ever it is, it does not favour in my mind still.

Ps. Also please see picture of error further down

    3. Lens flare

    - Good idea for picture taking, horrible for flying and hardly realistic, but then again it is viewing the airplane outside midair too :)

-Cudos on leaving an option to disable on this.

    4. Overcast quality

    - What the heck is that all about, do we really need it? Do it even have a function as I never seen any difference, but it's there nevertheless.

    5. Puff rotation speed

    - Again, what the heck is up with this shit, cannot see even a slightest realism in this option rather than it takes up space and should be replaced.

    6. Now the Cirrus ¤#"#¤# clouds thingy..

Let me say this, o'my'god I really hate this (general speaking in xp) and before blaming SMP or anybody els, let me say I am not entierly sure who's to blame.

But this has to go period! Cirrus clouds does not even look realistic and here is first picture proof

    post-8124-0-58027500-1407585949_thumb.pn

Tell me, does it look real?

I do not know what makes the clouds look like this, but it iron it selves out into white bleeched iccy things but I suspect that HDR or Art Controlmay may have something to do with it

    With HD

    With out HD

    post-8124-0-48405100-1407586165_thumb.pn

I tried to eliminate the cirrus clouds in SMP settings, even tried to exclude and delete files within, but the shit remains.

Kinda wonder if I need to remove the alphas all togeather.

I am jumping a bit, since this cirrus thingy makes me wanna puke, litterary.

Found an issue with the godrays turned on

    Error2 with HD

So finally my positive rant is over for now, now comes the pro constructive questions

    1. Could we do something about the cirrus clouds, how about and option to disable those in SMP

    2. Could you take a look at the bug with textures?

    PS..

Not sure if this is SMP, but the moon is displaced on high noon days

    post-8124-0-93270700-1407586793_thumb.pn

    Over to you John

  4. Thanks Peter, in such hurry to try out this I did not manage to think about normals. That would be a logical fix so thanks for the suggestion.

However I have now moved away from blender and do export directly from 3ds max to x-plane 10 - Seems to be working way more efficient

  5. Ok

So this is 3ds max to blender to x-plane 10.30 b7

Just testing this way of doing it trying to get a good workflow going before embarking a larger project.

    Using 3ds Max 2015 - Blender 2.71 and x-plane2blender 3.20.10

But I am now stuck on some lighting and placement issues I need som help with.

    Last but at least

I placed the model with overlay editor, but cannot seem to get the model flat on the ground?? How to I do this, could it i.e be done in the obj file directly?

  6. Just my opinion but I have around 10 hours of time in a 737-800 full flight simulator and I have to say the x737 handles way too lightly (real one needs near max up elevator to get the nose gear off the ground), it climbs too quickly (I managed to get 5000 ft/min but when I am training on the actual simulator I only get 3500-4000) and also the engines responds too quickly. The flight director bars move too slowly (real ones move quite quickly, sometimes too quickly), the autopilot corrects with too much of a jerk and also landing.

On the full flight simulator (or the real 738 in that respect), I flare at around 4-4.5 degrees at the most (I do not suggest anyone to look on the pfd and aim for flare attitude) and it gives me a relatively smooth landing of less than -200 ft/min but on the x737 I do the same thing and I thump onto the ground with 300-400ft/min. On the actual simulator, if I flare at anything more than 4.5 degrees I start floating and even gaining altitude but on the x737 it still thumps onto the ground.

It just doesn't nail it, I don't mean to offend anyone and I know they paid a lot of attention to detail but it really doesn't behave like that.

I am sorry, but I fail to see the relevance to my question for a ng pro version

  7. Version 10.30 b3 is now out

    Some important fixes

Fixed the “white-out” bug – no more loss of visibility when near clouds.

The white band of fog in high-altitude views has been fixed.

There is now an official override for clouds (sim/operation/override/override_clouds) – setting this to one gets rid of all cloud puffs and white-out; it is no longer necessary to use art controls to replace X-Plane’s built-in clouds. Using this override saves CPU time that would have been spent building clouds and VRAM that would have been spent storing cloud meshes.

The “frame rate” data output now contains two fields: CPU and GPU. These times show the time the CPU and GPU spent drawing one frame (on average) in milliseconds.

There is a new art control “hdr/debug_lights” that, when set to 1, will show you the cone area of all spill lights. The cone area of the spill lights on screen is a good indicator of how much GPU power the spill light is taking. If your scenery or airplane is very slow at night in HDR mode, turn on light debugging and look for huge, wasteful spill light cones. If you can make these smaller you may improve GPU performance.

  9. How does one get a hold of Ben? I've been flying a float plane around AK today and there are HUNDREDS of lakes missing. I'm a cartographer for a mapping company and nation wide high quality water area datasets. Since XP scenery developments absolutely blow when it comes to adding/editing water I'd like to see if it would be possible to get data to him so XP could have these lakes. The part that really sucks is that these airports are listed in the sim as seaplane bases, but there's no stinking water!! They show in OSM so I don't know what method is used to farm the data, but something needs to be done.

Give that man a direct line to X-Plane

  10. Silence is normally the best answer for developing progress. But for us that longs for a sneakpeak the time is our enemy, well at least an annoying friend ;)

So might I ask for any development news or an "over the shoulder" video while we wait for this gorgous lady to be finished?
