I totally agree, just hope them do not use 5 years to complete

Sir, have you conidered that not all reads all post and that there may be someone out there that did not read that initial post? Even if they did, any news old or new about PMDG is worth posting. That is my belief and I hope some out there would appreciate it

Xplane Development Update:
We have begun to discuss (at last!) unveiling our first preview for our first Xplane development project. (That sounds frighteningly like we have started to plan to plan for a planning meeting.... I don't mean it to sound that way. LOL)
I thought we were close to a preview on this about 8 months ago and I was mistaken- but we are close enough to completion now that I think we have something worth showing....
This project has been our "sandbox" exercise in order to get a development team up and running on Xplane- and many of you will recall that the Jetstream 41 was our sandbox exercise for what became the NGX and 777 product lines- so I think you will be pretty excited about this if you are an Xplane user!

Ugh thats a tough question to answer for any project it all depends on a lot of variables...
External influences
Project size
Bug killing
Life events
X-plane limitations and work around
Optimization and texture refinement
Marketing
Documentation
So on and so on.....taking those things into account you can see how difficult it is to put a time on it....
Take it you miss freeware then John

Lookie there, all back

Will fix it soon

As you can see, the clouds are very alpha and have issues
But what awesome clouds.. There is nothing so far especially in XP that look so good and realistic.
And as you say, still just in alpha

Do not forget, Outerra was developed by only one man, was not X-Plane that too?

I couldn't say at this time. We will be discussing it however in the next few weeks. Certainly we want our 737 to be fully representative of the real aircraft. Nearing 4.5 years of development though, we are about ready to concede a few things for our initial release, especially less frequently used features. Now that being said, we do not plan to rest on any laurels should we receive any after the release. There is a "line" that we have set for ourselves prior to release. We'll just have to wait and see.
Tom, in any way you see it there will be major bugs reported after public release. Not even a beta test can reveal everything.
But thats why god created service packs
Good luck, even if you enter another year of developments (or is 5 year an even number he he)
is the clouds display in the weather radar is tested with SkyMaxxPro also?
Don't think Sky Maxx Pro is a weather engine, for all I know it just modifies the default clouds, x-plane renders the weather.

Especially in the scenery design portion of it.

Imagine X-Plane with Unreal Engine
and you get Outerra

One could only hope Chris, I do however belive that Tessellation will come in the near future.
Sorry, excuse my stupid... what is this exactly?
Script to change art controls within X-Plane. This manipulates how light behave with the use of Fly With Lua plugin.

Clouds are work in progress and that process seem to take a loong time for sure. I too agree they may pull it through in the end, just very curious on how the end will look like.
Well, hopefully not in the near future. I have trouble rendering the basic ones we have now, let alone anything that fancy.
That is the huge diffrence bweteen the two engines, Outerra utilize this way better

Just imagine how nice X-Plane would have been with such technology when it comes to clouds.
To bad we will never see these clouds in X-Plane..
