Thanks for your response. What I usually do for FSX (I'm new to xplane) is I take a route from flightaware or from routefinder, copy it to the flightsim commander (it's a flight planner tool) and just save it in whatever airplane format I use (pmdg or native fsx format), then I just load it to fms as a company route. It saves me a lot of time as I rarely fly the same route often. So what would be great is just a tool that could just convert a simple route string to the fms format flight plan file....

Then the problem is that if you make the hat switch assignments as suggested, it will stop working in the virtual cockpit....
