Also just wondering if my flight plan is to Compton and the arrival airport doesn’t have a STAR how do I connect the gap between my last flight plan waypoint and the approach?

Hi all Having a problem with the ap on the TBM900 I was flying on vatsim tonight when i was given a heading which I followed. Thereafter i was given a direct to a waypoint, changed the waypoint to the active leg in my fpl but when I take the aircraft out of heading mode rol is engaged on the pfd and after pressing nav the GPS on the pfd becomes armed and rol stays active. I dont know if this is me being stupid and missing something obvious feels like it is. Any help shall be appreciated.
