HB-ISC "Alrodo" for the LES DC3 , repaint by Leen "Flybike" de Jager This is a livery-paint for the Leading Edge Simulations Douglas DC3. This paint depicts (more or less) the DC3 HB-ISC aka "The Alrodo DC3" The plane was owned by " Classic Air" in Switserland and had the Classic Air livery on the right side and was advertising "Alrodo-perfumes" on the left side. As usual this livery includes an complete new color and upholstery for the cockpit, making this livery unique on the inside as well. The old magnetic compass broke down, I installed a newer one (still second-hand naturally). How to install: Just unzip Alrodo.zip in a temp folder and start reading the Alrodo Readme First.PDF carefully!! Enjoy, Leen "Flybike" de Jager http://www.flybike-paints.nl -

"Quetzalcoatl" livery for the LES DC3 /C47 This is a livery-paint made by Leen "Flybike" de Jager for the Leading Edge Simulations Douglas DC3. Not just a normal average paint , no, this time a real thrill for those who want someting "obscure and spectacular" This paint depicts (more or less) the N9012 in a livery for "Bird of the Sun" Air Travel Club.(1978) Special for this livery is the fact both sides of the plane have different textures. Both textures show the Maya-god "Quetzalcoatl" ( serpent-alike-symbol) , on the right with an animal-head ,on the left with a more human face , both known from the Maya-culture. Thats why I named this paint Quetzalcoatl. As usual this skin-package also includes customised cockpit/cabin texturing and normalmapping. New for this paint-job is the addition of some "virtual-cabin-windows"(exterior effect only) How to install: Just unzip Quetzalcoatl.zip in a temp folder. Start reading Quetzalcoatl Readme.PDF carefully FIRST. I really hope you`ll enjoy this very special and rare livery as much as I did during the extremely time-consuming process of making it. Cheers Leen "Flybike" de Jager http://www.flybike-paints.nl -

Royal Australian Air Force livery for the LES DC3 ,by Leen "Flybike" de Jager This is a livery-paint for the Leading Edge Simulations Douglas DC3 . This paint depicts (more or less) the DC3 / C-47, A65-114 wich was used by the Royal Australian Air Force. As usual this livery also includes cockpit and panel artwork, dedicated to this livery. How to install: Just unzip A65.zip into a temp folder, you`ll find a folder named A65_114, two files and a README FIRST.PDF. Please follow these instructions exactly. I earlier published, C47-D-Flottille 56S nr 87 and Airborne Imaging for the same LES DC3. Big screens may take some loading-time! Enjoy, Leen de Jager http://www.flybike-paints.nl -

C47-D-Flottille 56S nr 87, livery by Leen "Flybike" de Jager This repaint is inspired by the French Navy livery for the C47 D It depicts ( more or less ) the nr 87 at the end of its career with the 52S Flottille. Unless her age, she was a reliable workhorse. These days she doesn't fly anymore but she still exists, standing at the entrance of the Nimes Naval base. As I wanted to give an over-all impression of the bird I aimed my brushes on the outside and to the interior, including the panel and cockpit as well. Did some additional bumpmapping (editing the normals accordingly the changes to the exterior). At the last moment a found a French crew, willing to fly this bird to you. Merci beaucoup mes amis I hope you`ll all enjoy this skin as much as I enjoyed making it. Leen de Jager http://www.flybike-paints.nl -
Just another approach , painting this bird , it looks like I cannot stop doing it. Creating extra windows ,doors and hatches, its a special sport. A bit of painting and bumpmapping. Please feel free to zoom in on the pixels. Aircraft-developing , paintwise spoken , whahahaha............... Cheers Leen

Sorry , cant help , I am addicted to this plane
Leen de Jager replied to Leen de Jager's topic in Screenshots
I am not the first one making an AA livery for the LES DC3 , the green one with the straight cheatline is already avalable "there" , you know. Well ....ehh the bird should have catched a fish there I think. -
Doing them all ........no thats to much. Doing just another one, thats fun. Cheers Leen

Thanks guys for your positive reactions. Till now, this is my conclusion. Both sides of the plane show , in a different way however, the Mayan serpent. The left side shows us the version with the more or less human looking face the painting on the right side is the serpent with the feathered tail and the more beasty face. You can recognise the more or less hooked curves in the body of the serpent , the way Maya`s used to shape it , on both figures. In fact we are talking about the Mayan serpent-god named " Quetzalcoatl " , among other things, the god of the sky. This all must leave us with the conclusion , we are defenitely talking about a plane with two different ( although related ) livery-sides. KwinAir just registerd the plane onder N55NK and put the red KWIN AIR on the fuse , forgetting to remove the old wing registration N9012 in first instance. Kwin Air did not invest in a new livery paint. I published the plane at the ORG yesterday. Quetzalcoatl.zip Best regards Leen de Jager Below , 1. The original wich stood model for the artists-impression on the right-side of the airplane. 2. The original wich stood model for the artists-impression on the left side of the tail.

Whats the story behind? I simply have no clue. Please give me a link to the picture your`e talking about? Cheers Leen

I am afraid I cannot do the N3006, as far as I know ,this model does not include environmental-reflections wich is vital when making an extreme-polished-bare-metal. -
LES DC3 , AIRBORNE IMAGING , wip.
Leen de Jager replied to Leen de Jager's topic in Aircraft Development
Let me explain. The aircraft itself being a DC3 is famous , in my opinion extremely famous. For many of us even te most famous plane ever. If you mean why this livery, its easy to tell. Its just because I like it. As I am used to painting the planes I like , is mere logic. I only paint liveries I like , famous or not. If other people like them , I am happy having made them , if other people don`t............. I am as happy. -

C47-D-Flottille 56S nr 87 This repaint is inspired by the French Navy livery for the C47 D . It depicts ( more or less ) the NR87 at the end of its career with the 52S Flottille. Unless her age , she was a reliable workhorse. These days she does`nt fly anymore but she still exists , standing at the entrance of the Nimes Naval base. At the last moment a found a French crew , willing to fly this bird to you. Merci beaucoup mes amis. I hope you`ll all enjoy this skin as much as I enjoyed making it. Leen de Jager www.flybike-paints.nl A big thankyou to LES (Leading Edge Simulations) for this great X-Plane add-on. Installation: Just unzip the contents of this zip-file into your liveries folder. (C47-D-Flottille 56S nr 87.zip at the Org.) If you like to have orange-tipped spinning propellors just put the LES_Douglas DC-3(Wheels)_prop.png file in the main objectsfolder of the DC3 overwriting the existing file. (make back-up first). Due to the limitations of the model this wil result in all other planes having the same effect.

Sorry, I always want to have the community " with their noses between/among the pixels". ( I am not afraid of "zooming in" I prefer to be judged at pixel level) Some loading time is evident then. A smaller picture will load quicker , it wil not show what I try to accomplish. -

Still in (slow) progress . This weekend I added emergency-exits, some plate panels , lavatory-window (specular for this still un-edited) , some detail in wing(landing)lights.
