  1. Yeah it's odd, XP10 behaves very odd&slow on ATI/AMD GPU hardware. LR says AMD "driver bug" cuts the performance in half ?!? Interesting. Every other app is happy with the 7970 but not XP10... arti
  2. Bad news 7970 is a screamer in every application/game except XP10, that's the very sad truth... My friend with i7 3+ GHz just upgraded his older ATI4970 series GPU for the fastest AMD7970. His 7970 XP10 framerate performance is worse than before... regards arti
  3. Worrying about the performance? Just check the Simul customer list: http://www.simul.co.uk/truesky/customers Boeing Flight Safety GenesisRTX Vizerra etc.
  4. So real. Lovely clouds... I know I'll buy simulator licensing Sumul clouds architecture! Unfortunately well beyond the Austin's artistic horizon... regards arti
  5. Sure I think you'll like it. It works fine on multi monitors systems (PC).
  6. yes "just" the wide angle view with 3-5 monitors, that's why I suggested TrackIR. The good think it you'll end up with 1:1 gauges scale on your virtual cockpit.
  7. No no no, if you have Eyefinity card you could connect 3, 4, 5, up to 6 monitors directly to your card. Some cards require 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th monitor to have display port interface or active adapter, but those called Flex didn't. I'm using 5870 2GB Eyefinity6 card which is very solid one, on XP9 and 5x1920x1080 monitors I get silky smooth 40-70fps everything on extreme settings. This array of monitors should form a flat plane, it's not intended for use as left, center, right window view, for such a setup you'll need separate computers (or wait for some clever 3rd party software on horizon). But you can easily create huge 2meters wide display with >100deg angle or more. I even use the additional TrackIR head tracker. Hope it helps. regards arti
  8. I'm just saying it's a very good start for a new Switzerland+ Flight Simulator and I really like that approach doing good things one step at a time. The company have a good if not the best reputation in RC community.
  9. oh yeah no autogen, no objects, bad baked shadows, poor fps, 2D clouds and no XP Quality art work !
  10. go for 12.1 preview. works fine. in feb we'll get 12.2 with custom eyefinity resolutions and more...
  11. November 24: "There are no "retail use" keys (that is, only to unlock the sim, not to unlock any of the Pro features) at this time. Expect this (maybe) in about spring 2012 and for the retail key to be $50 or so. Thanks, Randy Witt"
  12. Very interesting... Really?
  13. Outerra would be nice but seriously 1m/pix texture + fine mesh from the demo videos looks great... I really need antidote for poor performing XP10betas.
  14. definitely... look at those shadows precision, how clean they are... hmmm... steady 29-30fps I like that. I'm on the waiting list:)
  15. Mac version Feb 2012 (!)... I'm tired with XP10betas so much I guess I'll need some fresh air soon... They are experienced in RC flight modeling, I hope this simulator will be solid as German tank and fast on Todays hardware... I regret it's not that great p-l-a-u-s-i-b-l-e as XP10;) and those old fashioned garbage 1m/pix textures - which looks so real ... regards arti
  16. It's not true. Laminar will sell v10 non-commercial dongles for approx $50 (spring '12). Many developers are using them already. Ask Randy at info@x-plane.com regards arti
  17. 1. Yes, HDR displays are ok in beta 6 2. Mac OSX 10.7.2 3. ATI5870
  18. Sure those mountains looks great - because of "bad" technology called "garbage orthophotos" ! Personally I still prefer orthos + OSM for the real VFR joy and life-like images. We even don't need XP10 to enjoy such a beauty: XP9 + OSM2XP+REX clouds do the job with fantastic twice XP10 framerate! regards arti
  19. Check it out guys, IMHO it helps a little! I know someone say orthophotos are "garbage" very sorry but I like it anyway. http://maxx-xp.hikin...com/?page_id=58 regards arti
  20. I hate to say it but I'm "happy" I'm not alone. Performance on my machines with the latest betas is VERY bad: - MacPro 3GHz, 16GB RAM, ATI5870, SSD, 2560x1600, 4Mpix - i7 4.2GHz, 12GB RAM, OC ATI5870 Eyefinity6, SSD, 5400x1920, >10Mpix - MacBookPro 2.2GHz, 8 core, 8GB RAM, AMD5970M, 1920x1200, >2Mpix I have HDR + low shadows on because without those two features I prefer XP9 ! I get extra smooth 40-70fps on each system including MacBookPro in extreme settings on XP9. (Also I prefer the look of REX clouds. Of course they're not perfect, sometimes doing weird rolls etc but in general look very real, not just "plausible like" an impressionist painting or simple bunch of flat sprites) On those XP10 betas I get almost slideshow framerate, 12-14fps. CPU load is in best case is 5-10% of my 8 cores on each computer (max 15% with high speed flying). It seems a little funny for me, the developers are talking about the hardware bottlenecks instead of programming efficiency and optimization. I think these days no other game developer would sell unfinished beta application with tons of issues and bugs just because it's Winter Holidays time... But I really wish XP10 all the best! For now XP10 on my systems is usable only for fine screenshots with 4xSSAA. I don't think my hardware is outdated just because one simulation application can't run it smootly. I swichted back to XP9. What a relief, back with very smooth motion with 5 full HD monitors from single PCI 2.0 GPU. regards arti
  21. I wonder why this all AMD stuff CPU/GPU works fine with XP10... ($120) AMD Phenom II X4 955/ ($240) AMD6950. I was shocked to see the just 4000 CPU in PassMark benchmark (e.g. i7 2600 has 9000 PassMark). The video with totally insane objects&roads, HDR, but of course no shadows, Fraps with frame rate I guess average + - 20fps, the home cockpit jet landing runs even smoother... I'm impressed.
  22. Guys XP10 is NOT optimized... There's no reason to work like that on lowest settings! Laminar was saying XP10 is more efficient than XP9. I think everyone having such a problems on low/med settings should contact them directly (as I did) info@x-plane.com if you've found bug sent it: http://dev.x-plane.c.../bugreport.html
  23. 9-10fps, 25-50-100sm, HDRon, no matter if texture resolution minimal or very high. the rest of rendering parameters like on my prev charts. XP10 is built around the HDR, so I would rather go back to working XP9 for typical AA. Good airplane flight model will work fine on XP9 (except ETL fix) and XP10. I've found I prefer good 0.2m/pix "garbage orthophoto" + OSM2XP than "first blades of grass upwards" of the newest autogen if it's working like this. regards arti
  24. I did additional very foggy CAT I tests for Austin... : /
