buckkeefe Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Recently purchased this aircraft and it's great reputation is well-deserved. But, there are two things that I can't seem to figure out: (1) ETE/ETA information on the nav display seems to be systematically incorrect. I see something like:PNH 26NM 01:36TURKI 37NM 00:00 01:36DUMPS 72NM 00:09 01:43KDFW 280NM 00:34 02:09 Here is what I make of it:The first line shows the last waypoint that I crossed, how far away it is, and when I crossed it. All this info is right. But, the second line, showing the active waypoint, shows an ETE of 0 minutes despite being 37NM away (at my GS of ~465kts, it should be a little under 5 minutes). It adds this 0 minute ETE to my last crossing time, making the ETA incorrect as well. And the third line (upcoming waypoint) continues to build on the incorrect ETA calculation, but shows the correct ETE for that leg. Is there a fix for this? From what I can tell, the active waypoint ETE is somehow offset by a digit - it shows 00:01 when the correct ETE is between 10 and 20 minutes; 00:02 when 20 < ETE < 30, etc... ( 2 ) Nav radio auto-tuning never seems to set a frequency. On page 74 the manual says: "If the MODE is set to AUTO (selection is on cyan) then the FMS will tune automatically the radios near the plane." This means it should tune to the relevant VORs in your flight plan when they are nearby, right? No such luck for me :c Is there anything else I might have done that would interfere with this? I have tried toggling to manual and then back to auto as well. Please let me know if there's any additional info I can provide in regard to either of these problems that might help with troubleshooting. Quote
philipp Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Cannot confirm this. 4NM at 230kts is about 1 minute:31nm at 6 minutes also looks good to me: 116.80 is what I get when I depart Seattle. That's the SEATAC VOR, which makes kinda sense. Note however that the FMS likes to autotune DMEs even if they are standalone (a DME with no attached VOR or TACAN) over VORs without DMEs because DME updating provides more navigational accuracy. Do you have any other plugins installed that override the radio frequency, like a hardware radio (Saitek panel or the like)? Edited June 16, 2015 by philipp Quote
buckkeefe Posted June 16, 2015 Author Report Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the reply. I'm not too worried about the radio tuning so I'll just let that one be. But, here are two screenshots documenting the weird ETE behavior, particularly the 'off by 10x' issue: Edited June 16, 2015 by buckkeefe Quote
philipp Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Can you give me the full flight plan (including departure procedure) that you are trying to fly there so I can try it myself? Quote
buckkeefe Posted June 16, 2015 Author Report Posted June 16, 2015 Happens to me with any flightplan, here are screenshots with one example: http://imgur.com/a/AnNCg Quote
philipp Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Thanks for posting the flightplan. I can't see any problem with it:You have any plugin overwriting the DME or GPS information? Quote
buckkeefe Posted June 17, 2015 Author Report Posted June 17, 2015 Nope, the only plugins are the CRJ's, landing speed, and ground traffic. Quote
