Hi friends,

Today, once again I received a letter starting with Dear Sir.......
I really do not feel "Sir",  "Hi Leen"would do perfectly, that aside.

A letter opening with dear sir often appears to be request for something.
So, this one was.

Dear sir,
Aircraft manufacturer X is making a special livery for an occasion, I have a set of pictures from the plane at its roll-out-presentation.
Its a fantastic artistic livery and it would be great to have this livery for the pay-ware-model by XXX of the same aircraft in X-Plane.
I admire your skills as a painter and I take the liberty of asking you to to make a livery paint for this aircraft.

My answer:
Hi  .......
Thank you for your kind compliments.
It would be a real challenge to do this one.

Sorry to say I am not able to do it .
To do this job I need a lot more of detailed close-up-photos of the plane from all positions AND I should have the model in my sim.
Photos wich are suitable are not available (yet) and whats more important I do not have the model.

His answer:
Hi Leen,
More pictures is no problem I have friends who can provide them.
You, not having the aircraft is no problem at all , I can upload this XXX-payware-plane to my Dropbox, so you can add it to your hangar and start painting.
What do you think.
Regards    .....

Pfffffffff...........what to do with this one?

What happens here ,happens many times and it should not happen.
I am repainting for many years and this is not the first time this happens.
When I tell my dear wife "I got two dear Sir mails today", she exactly knows what I am talking about.

Be sure I am not saying that my requester is a criminal or a villain , I am not a saint either and he probably did not realise.
Nevertheless its bad for our hobby.
Illegal software is bad for the maker of the software, he gets less money for his work and that does not help developing of and/or even better sofware.
No need to say illegally obtained software is not my piece of cake.

I am not saying all payware-airplanes I have in my computer have been bought by me.
Sometimes developers send me a licenced plane or beta-version because they think its usefull.
Once someone bought me an airplane-model because he wanted me to paint a livery representing his old man`s plane and he wanted to give this livery-paint as a present to his father on his birthday.
This livery was for his father only and is not publicly available.

Its obvious, my answer to his request will be "No thanks, no Dropbox"

You might ask , why is Leen writing this all here at our X-Pilot-forum ( and at other places )?

I am just lazy when answering this kinda "Dear Sir" messages.

In future my answer will simple be : Pease read this  http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/7587-dear-sir/

Regards
