thomascats Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 Hello,I have just ended to read the plane manual and I have a question.Today I made a short flight From Portoroz, Slovenia to Austrian Innsbruck.I decided to make a LOC/DME Approche for 26.I wanted to try the B/C so I set the course to 075 degrees(Opposite of the regular course, 225), Arrived the 19DME Point and Pressed the B/C That also engaged the Appr. The plane started to turn backwards, Like if I did not engage the B/C. Someone Know What am I doing wrong? Thanks For Helping! Quote

I am using the 1308 Navigraph. But I don't understand Why do you need it and the LEGS page, They are related to GPS points, And I am doing an Instrument approach not GPS or something that you need coordinates. Thank you, I will post there too! Quote
cessna729 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I am using the 1308 Navigraph. But I don't understand Why do you need it and the LEGS page, They are related to GPS points, And I am doing an Instrument approach not GPS or something that you need coordinates. The navdata (in this case Navigraph 1308) provides the CRJ's FMS with information about SID's, STAR's, Approaches, Fix's, Airways, Nav-aids, and Airports, so it is not just GPS points . The X-Plane data provides information to the CRJ's raw nav instruments (NDB, VOR, DME, LOC and G/S).So depending on what modes you had the AP, FMS and the nav radios in will effect which data was being used and whether you're using default X-Plane code or Phillips clever custom plug-in code. All replys to this post to the CRJ-200 support Forum. cessna729. Quote
c2wagner Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 When shooting a Back Course, make sure you set the OBS to the front course of the approach. I'm not looking at the approach right now, but you said the localizer course was for runway 26, so lets say the front course is 260 degrees. If you want to shoot the back course to runway 8, you would tune the frequency for the localizer, and set the course selector to the front course of 260 degrees. On the Autopilot control panel, you select the localizer back course. I'm guessing you were getting reverse sensing due to setting the wrong course with the course selector knob. Quote
c2wagner Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Also, I forgot to add that you do NOT want to arm the approach mode. Approach mode is only for an ILS approach. You simply set the inbound course for the localizer (ie, the opposite runway you are lined up with, the needle should be pointed towards you), and arm the BC mode. It should fly just like a normal LOC approach from that point. If you enter the back course with the course selector knob, you will receive reverse sensing. (ie, you fly opposite of what the green needle is telling you, make the needle come to you instead of chasing it.) Quote
