Yes, it works great, even on the default aircraft. The only default aircraft that doesn't work is the King Air (as far as I know).

Furthermore, when I tested it yesterday, the lighting didn't change. I turned the landing lights off after landing, but they were still on in the replay. The flaps also remain on in the replay unless they're folded after landing.

In other words, the replay only remembers the landing state.
