Zbot Posted Saturday at 09:09 PM Report Posted Saturday at 09:09 PM Flying an RNAV/GPS approach with the MU-2 does anyone know how to get the glide slope to show up? The CDI shows the lateral path fine, but not the vertical path. My understanding is the AP won’t follow it unless it’s on an ILS, but I would still expect VNAV guidance. thanks! Quote
meierzwo Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago It does but it depends on your Settings. I'm not a Pilot so some steps may be not in the correct way. When following a Flight Plane (loaded and active in the Garmin), my AP is set to ALT, HDG and the GPS/HDG Switch is set to GPS. CDI in the Garmin is also set to GPS. The Plane is now following the magenta Line with GPS Support. When in Range, Localizer/ILS Frequency at the arrival Airport is set on NAV1. You know your Arrival Runway and load the RNAV/GPS approach in the Garmin. Close enough to the Airport, you activate the approach. The Plane is now following the approach Procedure. If you see the Localizer ID in the Garmin, switch the CDI from GPS to VNAV. You will now have Localizer and Glide Path Support but the Plane is not following the Glide Slope until you hit APR on the AP. You have to decent at your own. And the ILS System at the Airport must support Glide Path. Quote

Thanks, I’m familiar with changing the CDI selection to VLOC for an ILS, but here I’m talking about a GPS/RNAV approach just showing on the CDI, not even autopilot. Quote
