trevg Posted April 15, 2013 Author Report Posted April 15, 2013 Nvidia inspector is a tool for setting up your video card basically. Better than Nvidia's own control panel. Nothing to do with the computer specs, except for what I have already stated. It allows o\clocking vid card and various aa settings etc. If anyone is using this could you tell me if to just accept the default X-Plane settings that comes with Inspector or alter some of the AA and Texture Filtering options??I could try different settings but I would actually rather get X-Plane up and running properly than mess around with settings for a couple of weeks I would consider setting the card correctly before altering X-Planes configurations would be the best option, anyone with this knowledge gratefully accepted. Flying_pig Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 Yes but things like your actually processor model (for example an i7 or fx 8350) can also affect your performance in xp also it is impossible to give you performance advice without knowing the resolution at which you play xp as well as what version of xp you have also what type of 680 do you have do you have a super overclock version a ftw card etc. Quote
FloB Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 Hi Trevor, nvidia inspector is of no use at all with XP10 and causes trouble at best. I tested almost every setting you can think of. Just drop it. Helpful settings are all in the default NVIDIA driver software or XP itself. Only things for the driver setting to consider are: - set multi-threaded to: off (just wastes CPU, no performance gain)- set vsync to your liking (mine is set to 1/2 refresh rate = 30FPS)- set everything else to application controlled / default NVIDIA settings Now mess around with the rendering settings in XP10 Most likely your system will give you 30+FPS with AF: 16x / HDR: on / AA 2xSSAA+FXAA or even 4xSSAA+FXAA. You can't max out everything but most sliders should be about one notch from max. Happy flyingFlo Quote
trevg Posted April 15, 2013 Author Report Posted April 15, 2013 Thanks very much Flo. Thats the info I were looking for.So many options to try and you don't really know if its the card setting or the programme you are running that needs the adjustment. Looking forward to flying, awaiting the arrival of disks.Been flying since flying was invented on the PC RegardsTrevor Quote

I have XP9 configured with inspecor, but XP10, as you say runs very well without it. Quote
FloB Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 I never used XP9 so I can't tell. CheersFlo Quote
OlaHaldor Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 I installed the Inspector once, but removed it quickly after. All it did was adjust the game settings, just like I could adjust them through the in-game menus. Games such as Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, and Battlefield 3 to mention a few worked like this. And it switched down or off a few features I really liked, while switching on motion blur and the likes that I rather switch OFF because I don't like motion blur while moving around. I'd rather adjust these settings directly in the game, and if needed, make specific profiles in the GeForce control panel. The Inspector smelled like a typical "most end users don't know much about the games, let's simplify the procedure". And good for them. Luckily it's not a must to have it installed in order to use the GeForce GPU. 1 Quote
