ipaxton Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 I've never seen anyone redistrubute a default aircraft on the Org til tonight and It had me wondering are the default aircrafts copyright material? Quote
karingka Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 I've seen it done before, and after a while it was removed. Quote
guym-p Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) Yes, they are copyrighted material. Default aircraft have been made by a number of different people, not just Laminar Research themselves. If an author has decided to give permission to redistribute it, there will be a "ReadMe" or other license document in the aircraft package detailing what you may do. ilias.tselios Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Actually I'm working on the Piaggio Avanti (here). First I took permission from the original author to upgrade it and distribute as freeware. Quote
ipaxton Posted September 2, 2012 Author Report Posted September 2, 2012 I saw that thread the other day that cockpit looks really good. Also thanks for the info I just wanted to be clear it was copyrighted material. I've too seen people in the past post default aircrafts from FS9 and FSX. Quote
guym-p Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Airfighter has rightly pointed out something else. Copyright doesn't mean the door is forever closed, it means "Ask first!" Some authors are only too happy, as long as you take the trouble to ask first, give credit where credit is due, etc. Quote
