john82088 Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 When openscenery updated their objects and deleted some of their old objects for xplane 10, some of my scenery now has some missing items. For example, one of my airport sceneries says missing "openscenery/object/furniture/lights" because the file is no longer available in openscenery. When I opened up this airport in Overlay Editor, I am not able to delete the text for this missing object. The delete icon is grayed out.Can anyone who knows how to use Overlay Editor tell me how to delete the missing object for this airport so the error doesn't keep coming up for this airport? Thanks in advance for any help offered.John Quote
chris k Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) > When openscenery updated their objects and deleted some of their old objects for xplane 10,OpensceneryX 2.0 is a superset of OpensceneryX 1.3. There were no deletions of the library entries. It is also independent of XP9 or XP10.> For example, one of my airport sceneriesWhich Airport Scenery? There is no object called "objects/furniture/lights" - as there is no xxx.obj file referenced. All that shows is a directory - but no actual object to use. You may wish to give it something to use, like 'opensceneryx/objects/furniture/lights/lights.obj'If you want, .ZIP up and send me the .DSF file, and I'll fix 'er using WED.- CK.BTW here's the hierarchy: Edited June 27, 2012 by chris k Quote
john82088 Posted June 27, 2012 Author Report Posted June 27, 2012 Thanks Chris for taking your time to answer my question. That gave me a better understanding of openscenery. Unfortunately, I have a few custom scenery errors that have recently showed up since I converted over to x-plane 10. Even though I am tempted to zip up the airport scenery and send to you, if I don't figure out how to do it, I won't be able to solve my other scenery issues. I understand what you said that there is not object called "objects/furniture/lights". Is there a way to delete just that "object/furniture/lights" reference using openscenery or is it required to use WED? Unfortunately, I have never used that program. My goal is to just remove the error from popping up in xplane 10 by eliminating this line. Thanks again for your help.John Quote
chris k Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) OK, do this:Make a file called "library.txt" in the offending scenery's directory (i.e. Custom Scenery/BrokenSceneryFiles/library.txt)fill it with:A800LIBRARYEXPORT_BACKUP opensceneryx/objects/furniture/lights placeholder.objNow make a file called "placeholder.obj" in the same directory (Custom Scenery/BrokenSceneryFiles/placeholder.obj)Fill that file with:A800OBJThat should work.- CK.
