ARTIK Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Greater than 2GB? Do you mean workstation $>3k cards? Ok consumer ATI 6990 have 4GB total but it's just typical 2GB per processor... it's a little misleading because the X-Plane can't use the multiple GPUs. Quote
guym-p Posted September 14, 2011 Author Report Posted September 14, 2011 No, I didn't check any manufacturer's web sites before writing this poll, I just thought I'd better put "or greater" because every time I look I'm amazed by how things have moved on. I was gobsmacked by the availability of 1GB graphics cards, and within days of noticing that I saw 2GB cards for sale. Anyway, it's only a poll. I'm fascinated. Nothing depends on it. Quote
ARTIK Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Unfortunately 2GB per GPU seems to be a barrier for consumer market actually (also X-Plane is still 32bit app). I think it would be good idea to separate the 2GB cards and add 4GB (for one GPU) on the survey because the 2GB cards are quite popular nowadays (and very helpful in 1GPU multimonitor X-Plane setups). guym-p Posted September 15, 2011 Author Report Posted September 15, 2011 I think 2GB is fine for this year, and anyway the poll is running. From the sound of things, 4GB cards are not mainstream. Why not make a note in the diary to make another poll this time next year and see what's changed? Quote
