[SOLVED] CRJ bug with FMS cause crash to Desktop

I have bought the CRJ couple days ago, and must say I am really impressed with the quality. Apart from the annoyance of "not being able to fly without popping up the displays larger", everything is very very nice.

However, I have identified two annoyances, one of them I think was already identified on this forum

1- When flying a route using FMS at cruise altitude, the plane will turn left before a right turn, and right before a left turn, for approx. 1 to 2 seconds.  Very strange, as if it was trying to correct something.

2- OK, this is the strange bug, I will try to reproduce it because right now it is not documented.

I was flying a route from CYOW to KATL, and while in flight, I realized I had the wrong STAR set. So I went and chose another one. It was called PECHY.08R but, the available runways was 27L !!! and the transition was the same as the original approach I had chosen. For some reason it was not changing it. I tried couple of times only to realized that it was piling up new approaches in the flight plan, making me loop and loop around the airport. I started deleting the legs, and BOOM the DEST airport disappeared in the flight plan. Few seconds later, X-plane crashed to desktop. I was 300 miles from destination, in my first successful startup from cold and dark plane, and was very eager to complete the flight. You will understand my frustration.

Anyway, I will try to see tonight if the approaches at KATL are OK and if I can reproduce the bug when deleting legs.

PLease let me know if you have seen anything like this before.

and as for the STAR: PECHY.08R should give us the rwy 08R and the correct transition, not 27L

Hello!

I have been testing with the info you gave me, and it is ok in the 1.1 version. I haven't tested inside 1.0 but soon (if everything is ok) you will have the 1.1 this weekend if not sooner.

Ok.. I made a mistake STAR selection to test the change of it.

1. I select the CANUK9.27L as first STAR. ILS27L and YABBA transition

2. to change STAR go to arrivals inside DEP ARR. and press 1LK to deselect CANUK09.27L. Now I have all the options to choose again.

3. select the one you want: PECHY6.08R . Appears VOR27L in appr.. but if you see it is 7/7 page.. so we must go prev page until we see ILS08R (for example. page (1/7)).Select it.. and transition what you want... PRMAN.

So no problem.. maybe you forgot about navigating back to first pages of transitions. IT loads all the pages with all transitions.. but is ok. The only way right now (in future will be improve if we can) to delete a STAR is deselecting again in the 1LK.

About CTD. Long ago.. first betas.. we had that. Maybe still is there. I tested a lot and didn't find it... When you delete a point in the FMS and you are flying the FMS mode please don't delete points that the plane are navigating to. Always points after next point. I mean.. You can insert a new direct from the point the plane is flying at that moment.. but always there will be a final destination airport. If you don't leave anything the plane will be flying in blank area.. and we saved some BUGS in that.. but maybe there are others that could come.

So if for example you have to change destination airport.. the best is change to NAV1 or NAV2 mode.. and select aautopilot mode that way.. Modify the FMS route destination.. and then switch back to the FMS mode.

2. About the turnings while cornering... in 1.1 Philipp has improve the autopilot flight depending in speed you have. Still sometimes it will overshoot at very high speeds.. but it will behaviour the plane better.

Yes I still need to familiarize myself with the navigation of the FMS.

As for the DEST airport disappearing, I may have deleted it accidentally while getting confused about the legs.

as for trackIR, would you say that the plane is flyable without the need for clicking the displays to get them bigger ? With TrackIR, you can zoom in by approaching your head toward the screen so technically, no need to click the displays anymore ???

yes.. there is no need if you put with trackir your view closer to those screens.. but always you can popup them when you want.
