monitor/tv recommendations

Hello folks.

I'm putting together a sim for my son using saitek, desktop aviation products, panel builder, dual computers etc. My question is this: Can I use a HD tv for running xplane or do I need a dedicated monitor(s)? Will the resolution be good enough? I will be running a separate computer and monitor for the instruments with panel builder. Any recommendations appreciated!
