newbie with atc

i'm a new atc simmer and i'm using atc124th for atc. what i need to know is how to set up pfd? right now i've set cdi to loc1 and have pressed ap and hdg buttons on g 1000. i have a feeling that is incorrect ..please inform me; thanks. 

do i need to use joystick to fly the plane? using Aerobask robin dr 401.
