  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoiYkDX9UHU The super cars come to x-plane in this short video project
  2. it says "I am contacting www.x-plane.com to find an update server" and gets stuck there. I don't know how to make it update. I attached a picture of this.
  3. Hi, a video of CRJ-200 (by JRollon) landing in Huahine (freeware scenery by xpfr.org). I hope you like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCIiWoJqJ6M
  4. Hi, this is my first post. I have searched for an answer but can't find one in here. When I start the engines on the dc-3 in x-plane 10 the oil pressure goes straight up to 85 psi at idle throttle. The only way I can take off is by getting the pressure to well over 100 psi. The manual says that you should wait till the pressure has increased to 40 before increasing rpm's. I have followed the checklist and can only conclude that there is a problem with the software. Perhaps there is an update that I'm not aware of. I did look for one but I couldn't find one. I would appreciate any help in this matter. I do really enjoying flying this but this problem does kill the emersion a bit. Many thanks. Gquann
  5. Hi all, just bought a new pc to replace my "old" laptop (MSI GT780DXR with i7 2670, 8GB Ram and GTX570M) with following config: Intel i7-3770, 8 GB Ram, 256 GB SSD, Palit Geforce 680 GTX with 2GB VRam, Win7 64bit (Asrock Z77 Mainboard). I thought that this system would rock X-Plane 10 (10.20) and there would be a great framerate... Nothing! At all! It's even slower than my "old" laptop! High details, no HDR anitaliasing and ONLY 15-20fps at KSEA airport!!! I installed the newest drivers for the graphiccard and everything is up-to-date. What am I doing wrong? Please help! I just love X-Plane 10! Cheers, Nasszelle PS.: All other games are performing well, just X-Plane seems not to like my system.
  6. Here's a great video for all aviation lovers. Enjoy & Share! I tried to incorporate some recent aviation happenings in this video. I apologize for not uploading any videos last month, but I have been very busy. Thanks, and always remember to Rate, Comment, Share, and Subscribe! Ps. Comments on the video's actual page are always appreciated!
  7. Hi, I am trying to bring a GEOTIFF into WED but I'm having an issue. When the image is placed it just shows as a blank image. I created the GEOTIFF using Global Mapper. I set control points in Google Earth, saved the image, brought it into Global Mapper, Rectified the image, and exported it as a GEOTIFF. But when I tell WED to open it, WED only displays a blank image. I tried exporting it as a kmz to make sure my control points were accurate and everything lined up as it should, so I know my control is accurate. I have tried using other formats with the same result. I'm using wed_win_110r1 on Windows 7 64-bit if that helps. I'll attach my tiff if anyone else wants to see if it loads right for them scrf-2.tiff
  8. 2 months ago I decided enough is enough with FSX and litterally threw it in the garbage. I tried out the demo of X-Plane 10 last week and was really suprised how nice it looked and how well it worked on my new PC So Saturday I ordered X-Plane 10 from Amazon and having it shipped to me in two days. Looking forward to fully using X-Plane. Let me know what you all think of it so far I'm curious.
  9. Hi, I - as one of the Global Scenery developers - wanted to share with you a more comprehensive selection of "outside the demo are" screenshots from around the world. To not make this post explode, I uploaded them to a picasa album, where you can look at them in a slideshow. There you will find 125 pictures from quite some locations (mostly Europe) from these places: Austria - Zell am See Barcelona Corsica Hawaii Japan La Palma Norway Pyrenees Scotland Switzerland Follow this link: https://picasaweb.go...capesOfTheWorld I hope, this pictures will help you to better understand what the 8 DVDs can give you. (you might see this same post from me on other forums - but before others start to copy it, I just did it myself)
  10. Here is a comparison of screenshot from XP 9 and 10, both taken from the same place and exactly same time of year/day. HDR is on, with atmosphere scattering. The scenery is the same, Spain, Pyrénées with G2xpl. I find interesting how the colors appear more lively and beautiful. The atmospheric effects are subtle but very well done. IMHO, this is a big improvement, not one that you need a telescope to see, but one that affects the whole scene and therefore enhances immersion. Please, notice that mountains do cast shadows in v10, when shadows are set to max. Pretty gorgeous despite the fact they always move a bit, and might be quite heavy for the gpu. Speaking of immersion, I find very funny how Austin narrates his concept of "plausible": he explains that he sees roofs, and when he zooms in a lot, he realizes the roofs are painted on the ground and made of pixels. Now, how would a painter solve the problem of realism (or plausibility) ? He would do exactly the opposite: he would zoom out, and look at the overall effect. Then come back to the details. This is exactly what cities lack in v10: the general feeling of a city. However, at night, it works extremely well: the night lighting is nothing short of amazing. Unbelievable ! I suspect the problem with cities in daylight will easily be solved. I can't wait to experiment with some orthophotos under those buildings instead of the grass ! "Plausible world TM" and "Flat photographic world" should combine pretty well IMHO ! Pascal
  11. Hi there, Yesterday, I presented my Primary 6 Flight Simulator (please see my simpit blog for some details) to a flight sim club here in the UK. Many of the members of the club (around 20) were rather surprised and quite curious as to why it was running with X-plane 9.70 and not MSFS, even though my simpit could quite happily run with FSX or FS2004 via FSUIPC or another similar interface. I explained to them that I have chosen X-plane 9 as I feel it enhances what I am looking to simulate with my simpit in terms fluid flight with advanced weather effects and mostly because of the potential it presents to cockpit builders right out of the box. I was not overly surprised to find that many of the members (mostly current pilots, retired pilots, engineers and enthusiasts of aviation) either already owned a copy of X-plane 9 or had downloaded the trial at some point but had difficulty coming to terms with the differences with MSFS that they had become so accustomed to over the years. So while I was there I thought I would show them some of the features that I believe X-Plane 9 really excels at. Most of them seemed genuinely impressed with the weather simulation and speedy loading times between night and day. We had a bit of fun trying to land into the local airport on CAT 3 approach, My Simkits gauges were having a great workout. However, one thing that really struck me was their genuine hatred of the interface. I had a long conversation with one gentlemen a very experienced, retired, automobile engineer, who expressed his fondness for X-plane, but had struggled to get to grips with the interface. He said he was bewildered with the amount of options, sliders and tick boxes. But this gripe seemed to be a running theme with most of the members, who had become used to FSX's simplified, approach. Personally, I actually like this interface, even though it presents itself as coming from Austin's engineering background, I feel it looks more industrial and professional than MSFS graphics driven menu system. However, I am aware that Austin has mentioned that this may be changed with the later updates of X-plane 10 (many of the members had a real buzz about version 10, which was great to see). I do wonder what sort of interface could be possibly introduced to change the default grey menus. Maybe LR should take a leaf out of Real Environment Extreme's branding. It presents a slick, intuitive interface that seems to be very popular with simmers. I would also be surprised if Aerosoft didn't have a hand in creating something new for X-plane 10, they have many experienced artists and designers on their books. Does it need an overhaul? Is it something that the average Joe can get involved in and send designs to LR for consideration? It would be interesting to know what others think?
