Hi Jan
Did a test flight today from ENGM to ENDU and followed your reccomendation to use lvl chg and heading for the appraoch. The ILS was captured but the plane never capture the G/S, not on LNAV, not on HDG or VOR/LOC
So basically I had to do 3 approached today ending with a visual landing
This is just insane frustrated, is the airplane at all capable of an ILS approach?

Though I did learn by talking to real life pilot that VNAV is an strage system, often they sit and wonder "what the heck is the VNAV system doing now, even in the NG..
Also learned that Norwegian had an SOP that said to always intercept with HDG SEL since LNAV can have map shift and you are not guaranteed LOC intercept too. Often they are said to use V/S before intercept or have at least a small level of segment before intercept.
The one I talk to said that depending on the software the -300 did not want to capture the G/S from above but merely from below.
So I need to re-learn the ways of the -800 and re-learn a sop where I intercept the G/S using either HDG SEL or V/S depending on the approach, terrain etc.

Think I did exactly that with a small difference, damned it this is the key factor of this issue.
1. ILS is setup with the approach
this images as an example
2. ILS frequency is set both sides, inbound course set both sides.
3. Inbound the VOR/LOC is armed
- At this point this test I did I fly on HDG Select and SPD set to 210
4. ILS Captured at the hight indicated on the chart
5. <<< here is the kicker - When VOR/LOC is captured and green, I pressed the APP
- I am used to 737NG and this works fine there, of course aware of the 737 being more realistic and different.
That in mind
6. G/S is never captured (green), the plane continues straight ahead regardless
- Next try was the same
VOR/LOC captured with AP on - LNAV and SPD on but no G/S ever captured
- Same goes for VNAV - LNAV and VOR/LOC set
ILS is captured, but not G/S , plane DO NOT CAPTURE THE GLIDE SLOPE
So my question is this, will G/S be captured if APP is not activated beforehand?
i.e. If I arm VOR/LOC then wait till I see G/S in the green then APP mode select.
PS.. Never had this issue in a full motion (real) simulator or any other plane I have flown.
G/S is always been captured with APP selected before!!!
Might it be a bug?
