  2. I don't know how you bypassed the 20 year old sound engine to create these great sound but you did ! I'm blown away by the immediate spool up sound upon applying taxi thrust which I've heard often in real life as well as the high rpm fan sound on takeoff run ! Bravo ! Sounds are worth the cost of the add on alone !!

  3. Been testing 3.3 extensively over the weekend. It's a solid release and there's little to complain about. Two things though I believe need some attention. First thing is the way cloud shadows look in visibilities below 25nm. There's two issues: first, the shadows aren't influenced by X-Plane's haze / scattering (same is true for clouds, but usually it doesn't disturb much), making them look out of place (almost hovering) in the distance. Second, they somehow get cut off in the distance. Both issues are clearly visible in this shot below. I suspect this is an issue with the way SMP handles the shadows and probably not easy to fix - but could you provide a work-around, for example a lowered radius the shadows are drawn? Right know, the only option is to turn them off... The other thing has been discussed before and I am happy you're still working on "it". The Cumolonimbus. Well, to say that this fella below sticks out like a sore thumb would be an understatement. And then it bleeds oil. On top if that, it was flickering. Really, no. How about just using a large, darker cumulus, that blends in better with the rest of the clouds and doesn't make people scratch their heads. Keep the target hot guys.

  4. Hi Igor... I don't know if this is good or bad, but I just restarted the iPad and now it is able to connect to X-Plane. I didn't change anything else. Mysterious of iOS beta version!!!! LOL

  5. Our cloud shadows are drawn as overlays on top of X-Plane's terrain, which means we need to try and reverse-engineer how X-Plane applies visibility to the terrain in order to get the shadows to match. We don't always get it exactly right, but it's something that we're often tweaking in new releases. I've actually hired a couple of people to build a new system for creating cumulonimbus clouds for a future release, in order to give us finer control over their shapes. As Cameron said though, these clouds come in a very wide variety and a lot depends on where you live. It's very hard to make everyone happy with them, and even harder to find an acceptable trade-off between their visual quality, volumetric nature, and performance given how massive these clouds are. But we're working on it.

  6. Unfortunately with last test flight I had FPS drop again. At the point where it was worst (<10FPS), GPU utilization was under 40%, VRAM utilization at 65% and overall CPU at 65%. Quick cycling of settings fixed it (I actually increased draw distance a bit, not decreased). It remained stable afterwards for long time. This flight was very cloudy compared to previous flights and I think overall performance of SMP 3.3 improved a lot compared to previous version considering amount of clouds shown. And were they very impressive with gteat coloration - will compare from real airplane on Friday :). Frank I am looking forward for your next tweak you mentioned. Overall performance of SMP is great, it seems to be that only under certain circumstances it gets disturbed. I appreciate your support and dedication which will definitely lead to success in dealing with this particular issue.

  7. Sitting on the apron at Warsaw, Poland after arrival from Bucharest, Romania Cockpit ready for turnaround One of the last summer days here in Poland, +30c at ground level results in some nice CB buildups during climb On my way to Salzburg, Austria! And some more cockpit porn! ;]

  8. In the same way I question the value of a lighted cabin at night from exterior view, when in reality it's not so realistic? My point here is not to insult you, but to make apparent that many people have different opinions. Incorrect assumptions. Please don't go trying to compare other people or groups to another, especially from another sim. Free time is something none of the guys definitely have, and when they do, it's going to better priorities. I used past tense, not present, so this question is way out of context. Trying to project other peoples failures onto this team is not fair of you to do, so please don't. More importantly, I'd encourage you to do some research as to who the people on this team are and you'll perhaps quickly realize they are not prone to leave things behind. There are methods within X-Plane to make it so such a cabin is not impacting resources when not in use/view. It's simply a matter of doing things right. Never mind the fact that the 737 is already an extremely good performer FPS wise. *for me (you). As I said, in due time. This group does not skimp on the details when it's time to get something done. The dedication to this product has not changed, and if promises were made (as they previously have been), they'll get done. Longish story short? The cabin lights will come proper when the cabin itself is done.
