wow, I think ya goin a little overboard on the drm.

Uh, what? This has absolutely zero to do with DRM. That works no matter where you put it, so better to not jump to conclusions.

Those logos you mention, and the fact that you're in demo mode are clear indicators you are trying to open the 32-bit CRJ.

Again, the folder you want to open is located in Aircraft/X-Aviation/Bombardier CRJ-200. If you moved this to your regional jet folder, move it back to X-Aviation.

Cameron, you shouted not to move the folder, so I assumed....... any how I had moved my scripts folder from my old crj, which had an old init script that was causing the problem... moved it back to my regional jets folder and all is good...

good night

yea i know, those folks really get on my nerves

Good thing your computer screen doesn't reflect back much of what's in front of it. :)

so just double checking, i cant currently use this update with xsquawkbox (32bit xplane).

That's correct.

Hi Cameron! This topic very strange for me because...

This is email that i recieved from x-plane.org store (where i  buy CRJ-200):

Dear customer,

The CRJ200 team has updated the aircraft to a new version: 1.53. You are entitled to a free copy!

Version 1.53 includes the 64 bit version of the CRJ

But.... this email i recieved 30.11.2012 (6 months ago).

No changelog in this message... only support  64bit version.

And now i read this topic with same version CRJ-200, but released 21.07.2013 and with many improverments.

I have a simply question: This is a other version from Org Store and where i download new update?

X-Plane.org is no business of mine, so you'll need to seek any support from them.

As the update indicates here, the list of changes is a reminder and carry-over from 1.5.2.

That's precisely what it means.

1.5.2 is the exact same as this update, except it is for 32-bit. If you want to stick with 32-bit, then stick with 1.5.2. There's no difference to the features.

just ridiculous... can't believe that you guys are really expecting money for this.. As you have seen from the mail conversation, 64bit Installation does not work for me as well... Excellent F'UP, Cameron!

This was actually my last add-on from X-aviation... bye

I really don't get it. What is your problem here?

You can use the plane in 32bit X-Plane, by installing the 32bi version.

You can use the plane in 64bit X-Plane, by installing the 64bit version.

If you have trouble installing the 64bit version you should provide a proper problem descsription, like what you tried, what didn't work, and a screenshot of the error you get. Simply saying "it doesn't work" won't help.

Parallel Installation of the CRJ is not allowed by the installer. So this is an "either or"-decision. But some of the add-ons (such as squawkbox) won't run under X-Plane in 64bit... So, why don't you support both 32 and 64 bits?! As almost all other add-on devs?

Regarding the "it does not work"-topic. I have explained everything to Cameron already via mail, including logs.. So once again:

- I have un-installed version 1.5.2, installed version 1.5.3., activated. PFD remains black

- camerons comment was to move X-Plane from Programs-Folder to Desktop

- but moving to Desktop or even root did not work as well. PFD remains black.

This is just making me angry. I have been discussing about this topic for more than a year now. First excuse was: "Just wait for 64bit, everything will be sorted out". Now 64 bit is out, and it is still not working.

This is a high-price product, thus I expect it to work!

...Or you could just re-install 1.5.2 and have it live side by side 1.5.3. It works, so what's the problem? This seems silly.

Why? Because thousands of people can run it fine with the exception of you? It begs the question that something is not right on your machine. 'What' is the question.

Excellent F'UP, Cameron!

Okay? I don't see any "F'UP" here. Seems to me people are pretty happy with their update. If only you could see the thanks and appreciation in e-mail. If that's what you consider a "F'UP" then I like it!

Right, you were experiencing an OOM error in 32-bit. This was widely experienced by many customers at every store, and the solutions were slim. 64-bit does indeed solve this problem for people, but if you still have some form of a display issue, then there is something amiss on your configuration at home.

Given all of this, I think the relevance of your complaint that you can't install 32-bit side by side (even though you can) is moot anyhow. Your computer won't take it, so we shouldn't even be contemplating that point.

Nazze,

If spending more money on something rather than responding to tech support emails from us to you is your way of solving issues, then so be it. I can rest easy knowing the ball was not left in my or X-Aviation's court due to your non-response.

It's obvious this add on works for everyone else here. You're back to discussing 32 and 64 bit again (which you could have done here too), but I can't personally help your own unwillingness to resolving your own issues if you can't assist us in helping you.

At the very least, have fun and enjoy!

I'm not really clear on what is up with the CRJ. Where they converting it to Gizmo? Sorry, but I bought it on the org store before I came here... Anyways, thanks for the laugh Nazze!

Nope!

The plugin and functionality between both shops is the same.

It's possible a component in one installer vs the other for VC++ installed differently, as that's what drives the displays, but since Nazze wanted to re-buy instead of troubleshoot through email, the world may never know. :)

I hadn't used this plane in quite a while. I'd forgotten just how good it is. I'm hooked again. This is the only plane (that I've noticed anyway) that will list from side to side when you turn sharply on the ground. It makes the ground handling seem very, very real. It feels good in the air too. I got so immersed that when I flew into Tom Curtis' KLAS scenery, I thought I could step out, go over to the strip and hit the casinos :P  Back to reality now :(

I find myself missing this plane when I'm away from it for more than a day now. I'm going to clear some space on the hard drive and record a tutorial of how to fly the PORTE4 departure with raw data until PORTE, then FMS from there to LAX for the ILS 24R. It's a fun flight.

Hi Keith, sounds great, I look forward to seeing it :)

Any chance that you could do the "Prequel" (or even a series), in which you show the Flight Planning, Perf charts, W&B, weather briefing ect that happens before the flight? With links to planning tools/en-route/approach charts ect?

I think that would turn your excellent video B)  into something extra special. :D

  • 4 weeks later...

Cleared off a bunch of HD space to make room for this and tested the video recording setup last night, all good to go (it's been a while since I've recorded one). So, this should be happening soon. Flight planning is covered in the workshops that I've already done...perf charts I can't share because I have a set of real charts from an active duty CRJ pilot that I can't share, and I just don't think ppl care that much about the weather (correct me if I'm wrong) :)

I suppose I could do something showing the flow of opening the charts, but believe it or not, my vid capture rig can only capture OpenGL applications, not the whole desktop, so I'm not sure that's going to happen soon.

For now the video will only cover the specifics of how to fly SIDs using a blend of raw data for the first portion and the transition to FMS, along with how to manage the climb along the way, the acceleration from 250kias to 290kias at 10k without leveling off, etc.

Thanks for the encouragement, though! I wish I could've done this sooner, but we're also working on a new VFR training program for PilotEdge with 11 VFR flights (expanding from the 3 flights in the current program), so there's a lot going on!
