Transparent clouds and low draw distance

I just bought SkyMaxx Pro and real weather connector as a performance friendly alternative to xE. The volumetric clouds are completely invisible at night and all other clouds are easy to see through to the ground. Draw distance for me is horrible maybe 20-30nm even with the sliders all the way up. I also purchased real weather connector at the same time and I feel like I just threw $60 away as I had much better results with default wx and a few .lua scripts.

Yup my "volumetric" clouds are just billboards too you can see them clipping into the ground and rotating as you go past.

Something is wrong here. Does this happen even after a restart of X-Plane?

Volumetric clouds do NOT rotate like billboards. Whatever you're describing, this is not the expected behavior and sounds like a bug we need to look into.

Transparency also doesn't sound right. There should be nothing transparent at all in the volumetric clouds.

The billboard issue seems to be fixed after a restart but I can still see through an undercast

You'll find it happens less often if you are also using Real Weather Connector. If you want to go back to the non-volumetric clouds for now though, you can simply select them in the Overcast and Cumulus settings of SkyMaxx Pro instead of downgrading. There are further improvements to non-volumetric clouds coming soon in the 5.x run as well.

Those lines on the ground shows with non-volumeric clouds. Those are with default. I have connector but for me to use it i would need another licence of skymaxx as i have already got it on 3pc's. master would need to have skymaxx installed and i don't want to overload master pc with not necessary plugins. It's just the way my setup works. If i could use RWC without having skymaxx on the same pc then that would work better. I understand I would need RWC on master PC - the same that runs ASXP?

You only need one license per product for 3 computers as the DRM allows to have 3 activations at the same time for everything linked to your X-Aviation account so there is no problem installing SMP and RWC on all your computers (and it also does not waste any resources). As fas as I know you will need SMP and RWC installed on every computer which is intended to render clouds so most likely all of your 3 computers and then ASXP has to feed them all with the same weather information.

another screen with grainy edges. SMP/RWC/ASXP

Doesn't look grainy. I see the lateral lines. This is a performance trade-off.

But, these images make me think perhaps RWC 1.2 is not active. Using it causes much less of this.

If you are doing manual weather with Automatic mode in RWC you can get more artifacts like this.

Overall the latest update is much better, no huge fps variance between cockpit and external views and a decent fps in general, previously any external view cost me half the fps. Still some issues with the volumetric clouds though but in general I'm more happy than I was.2124740365_Cessna_172SP-2021-01-2419_43_10.thumb.png.459cc4299c94e1cc36755c499464e75f.png1874839119_Cessna_172SP-2021-01-2419_43_19.thumb.png.ce23763750d16f98267c82ae249f6be0.png382553303_Cessna_172SP-2021-01-2419_43_33.thumb.png.623d946333f8f03ec0320901fd84042a.png1313705820_Cessna_172SP-2021-01-2419_43_48.thumb.png.cdbc466a7c407f6f197c20385fdfe8af.png

Cameron... believe me... they are grainy. two buddies of me, have same issue. Another people here in the community also.

Just zoomed in

RWC active. Resolution 2560x1440 (120hz). cloud coverage max.

Call it grainy if you want, but my explanation still stands. What you see is not out of the ordinary.

For now, this is just how it is with volumetric clouds. More detail = BIG performance his.

Yes but I have 4 PC's, master is used to send visuals and it has ASXP. SMP is installed on the visuals which works fine, I did noticed that when i installed on visuals 5.03 version they all had RWC setup already (I did activate it on one of the visuals) Will that work that way? Or does RWC needs to be on master to send visuals to external display machines...
