aye....for the release there will be an old school radio version and the 'Garmin stack' GPS version.     Very quickly after the initial release the G500/600 variant will be avail for owners of the RealSimGear G500 product.   Once all those are out...again, hopefully pretty quick since I'm doing them all at the same time...then I'll start poking around at a RealityXP GTN variation.

more 3D porn for the attentive.  Nowadays, the 3D has to deliver excruciating detail, so its a big screenshot so nobody is getting faked out.  Immersion is the name of the game!  I'm getting close to

I know I said I'd back off...but a few more screenshots of the cockpit with many texturing holes "filled in", giving it a busy look worthy of a steam-gauge IFR twin turbine.    Its interesting to me how this version is what I wanted to eventually achieve back in 2005 when I started the original...but had to wait for the tech (and some help from friends)  to catch up.  Only took what?   17 years?  I think XP12 and Version 2.0 of the Moo are going to get it done!  Maybe I'll finally enjoy 'flying' it in XPlane for a change.

Night lighting will probably be one of the last things I do unfortunately.  Right now, I'm "wiring up" the panel and programming the electrical system. Since it is the basis for a lot of stuff, it has to be done first.  This work is done in conjunction with animating all the controls for manipulation and VR also.  Basically I'm starting from a "cold and dark" situation and animating / programming all the controls and indicators as I go.....which is a lot of back and forth between the 3D work and the programming work to drive the animations.    Things are moving reasonably quick since I can regurgitate a lot of the code developed during the IXEG work.  This version of the Moo will have all the proper electrical busses and fuses working, so you can isolate individual busses and equipment.  In practice though, this isn't the idea...the whole system is designed to be safe and just work without messing with it...but...it does set the stage for me to put in some more interesting failures at some point.

bit more spit and polish.  The radio panel is completely functional now, and part of the pilot panel.....steady as she goes, shooting for April timeframe as of now....and yea...another cockpit shot.  As much as a testimony to Laminar's rendering engine as anything.  I'm amazed at where real time 3D has come.

Some work on the HSI simulating the "power on and sync behavior".  I never noticed before that the HSI OBS knob is connected to the compass card through a differential...so when the compass card rotates, so does the OBS knob (with this model).   You can see this behavior in the extreme lower right corner (copilot HSI) of this video at 2:55.  Relying on the default behavior of XPlane's HSI means nearly instant syncing of the HSI, but in reality, these older flux-gate systems take a few minutes to get their bearings and get you a good reading (no HDG flag), so you have to expect that during cockpit pre-flight.

Here's short clip of version 2.0 with the power on and sync features.

I have a majority of the navigation equpiment wired up and behavior (seemingly) proper with both power on/off behaviors (best I can tell without owning the equipment).  Lots of focus on immersion and "natural look and feel" of the cockpit animations this time around.  Next up is the quadrant controls, overhead and then autopilot.  After that (targeting by end of this month), the plane should be 100% 'operable' and I'll start tweaking the flight model and moving to FMOD sound work and the exterior liveries beginning February.  mid-late March is the target!  Below is more video on some cockpit interactivty testing.
