Any idea what could be causing this error (during an activation attempt)?

Rename the file:

X-Plane / Resources / plugins / Gizmo64.plugin / firmware / assets / ca_store / _cacert.pem

to

cacert.pem

And it should work.

This bug happens for a very small % of users. Not sure what the root cause is yet.

Beautiful, that did the trick - thanks!

Would never have occurred to me to try that :)

It's a "plan b" built into the plugin. I'd like to figure out why the bug happens at all but we also understand that customers need a working plugin.

I get a warning telling me the BETA will expire in a few days .... what will happen then? .... is there a 2nd BETA or a new release available? ... Thanks in advance

+1, do we need to reinstall AC's with non-beta?

Actually I just updated my IXEG 737 and it asked at install if I wanted to install Gizmo Beta ... I said yes and the warning has gone away (for now at least)

Can we have longer expiration periods on the beta releases then? It'd be nice to have more than a 12-hour window in which to update...

Time window doesn't really matter.i don't see your argument here. As long as we get it out prior to expiration I think people can handle a 2 minute install just fine.

I'm sure "people can handle it", but it's not awesome user experience. At least I want to keep my installation in an instantly flyable condition at all times, and I may not use it every day.  Last-minute updates make that impossible - and worse, people may not notice / remember it's due for an update prior to launching the sim, so it's not just the 2-minute installation but also an XP restart that can take far longer.

Just a suggestion - feel free to ignore it I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What good does a longer expiration period do if we don't release the next one till two days before the extended time either? Your logic just doesn't make any sense.

*sigh*

The idea was to have a longer gap between expiration and new release. Two ways of going about it:

1) Maintain development cycles, extend expiration periods.

2) Release new versions sooner.

We release when we feel we are stable or dependent on feedback. Sorry if you're not satisfied. Sounds like the beta option should be something you avoid!

There really is no need to be so testy with this. It was a simple enough suggestion, and a practice that is followed by most other developers across many different pieces of software.

Having  tight beta expiration time frames also puts unnecessary pressure on releasing the next beta, possibly before it otherwise would have. I agree releases should happen when they're stable, so that's the right thing to do - what I'm suggesting would allow you to do that better.

And it would also get pesky users like me off your back, hey :D

You could've just said "Thanks for the suggestion, we'll take it under consideration" and then do nothing if that's what you felt like.

I'd rather be honest. Sorry! I'm very direct that way.

Ha! I'm Finnish, I know all about the Way of Absolute Candor, and I can appreciate that.

I guess I'm just surprised you don't see how this would benefit you, too.

Anyway, thanks for the engagement & have a good day!
