BK117 livery CN 7017 COLANI'S SPACESHIP - EXCLUSIVE TO X-PILOT.COM

Repaint for Nils Danielsson's excellent payware MBB BK-117.

Simply unzip the file "COLANI'S SPACESHIP" into your xplane/aircraft/helicopters/bk117/liveries folder.

In the early days of the BK117, MBB contracted well-known designers of the day to create eye-catching designs to highlight and advertise the BK117 at various trade fairs and airshows. In 1986 taking the BK117's sales slogan of Space ship (the ship with roominess), Luigi Colani created his now-famous livery, "Colani's Spaceship," to coincide with Halley's Comet which was visible that year.

The aircraft was exhibited at the Farnborough Airshow from 2nd-9th September 1984 in its factory paint, and as Colani's Spaceship from 31st August to 7th September 1986, before the aircraft was sold and the livery lost for good.

Of note, before Colani painted it, 7017's first role was as testbed for High Temperature Tests, carried out in Khartoum from May 1st to 12th 1983.

BK117 livery A-3 CN 7045 D-HMBD - EXCLUSIVE TO X-PILOT.COM

Repaint for Nils Danielsson's excellent payware MBB BK-117.

Simply unzip the file "CN 7045 D-HMBD" into your xplane/aircraft/helicopters/bk117/liveries folder.

This is the livery of 7045, a testbed aircraft retained by Eurocopter for development and ongoing testing. In November 1987 it became the first BK117 to be constructed out of fibre compound material.

In 1998 it was fitted with the cockpit structure of the EC135, thus forming the basis for the EC145/BK117 C-2. This was known as the BK117 Futura.

In July 2002 a "smart rotor system" with controllable flaps was fitted, and in September 2005 an electrical flap control system was trialled; the aim being to reduce overall noise levels.

The livery shown here represents its time in 1996 when it was shown with a HeliRadar which was intended to permit operations at night and in bad weather, hence the title All Weather Rescue Helicopter.
