Cannot taxi - nosewheel steering inoperative

To find the Nosewheel Steering Toggle, under Keyboard Setting, on the left pane select ALL. Then on the right pane, expand "Flight Controls," and under Flight Controls, expand "Basics." See attached jpgs. Then under Basics, scroll down until you see "Nosewheel steer toggle." It will not have an assigned key, but my jpg shows that I assigned the letter "n" on my keyboard to toggle the tiller on/off. Under LES/CMD/Gear there is also a toggle for "tiller_hyd_on_off."

Thanks so much. That should do it.

I've tried the nws toggle before with no luck.

For some reason that doesn't work with this plane.  But the

LES /CMD/Gear: toggle for "tiller_hyd_on_off."

Should work i would think.

Nosewheel steering functionality has changed in the latest version of the Saab v1.6...

Nosewheel Tiller

There seems to be some confusion on how this is implemented. We have provided two (2) options (selectable in user preferences):
    - Use Tiller Checked (ON) - This allows you to use the in-cockpit tiller (manipulator) to steer.
    - Use Tiller Unchecked (OFF) - This allows for mouse/hardware steering.

In addition... steering is only available when the following criteria are met
    1. On the ground (WOW)
    2. Hydraulic PSI >= 1500
    3. Aircraft is moving
    4.Tiller is engaged (depressed)

Ok thank you for the information.  Boy I have to say the aircraft is fun to fly.  Thank you for making such a beautiful airplane.  I'm going to be flying this one a lot.

One thing I find hard to fathom is why would they make the steering mechanism out of a tiny knob.  That had to be strange to learn for 340 pilots and it doesn't sound like it would be easy to taxi with that.

This is common on pretty much all airliners.

Interesting, I know I've seen it on some I own plus the X-Plane default MD-82 I notice has it.  I do know Airbus's all seem to have the tiller, even the giant A380.  I just think using rudder pedals would be seem more natural than a tiller but I'm not a real world pilot so I really couldn't say.
