Surely as xsquawkbox does not have an "Observer mode" If both users of a shared cockpit with smart Co pilot the pilots (and controller ) would see two aircrafts? So the pilot flying connects for example with a callsign like BAW27AT_OBS and turns his transponder off and the PNF sets his callsign as BAW27AT with transponder active?
