  1. Bonanza Air Lines - N491

This is a mostly authentic recreation of N491's livery from somewhere between 1949 (when Bonanza Air Lines started operations) and 1963 (when they stopped flying DC-3s). It is only "mostly authentic" because there are not very many reference photos available, and not from all angles, and the ones I do have are not dated.
There are a few technical bits and bobs that aren't right, especially with the reflections/normal maps, as I didn't want to fight with it any longer and the paint kit is lacking. But I think it's 90% there! Please report any glaring issues you find.
Bonanza flew DC-3s in the Southwest/West USA in the 1950s. Included in the zip file are a couple of images of the January 1959 timetable brochure, which shows all their routes at the time.

As with all LES DC-3 liveries, there is both a livery folder (put in your liveries directory) and an "output" folder, which contains the ini files required for airframe management. Drag this output folder into your X-Plane root directory, or copy the ini files within manually to Output/DC3/Modern[and/or Classic].

  3. DC-3 v2 / That's All, Brother

    LIVERY PAINTERS INFO:
Use this livery package as guidance on how to structure your paints. You can start from this package, and change the file and names where is needed.
    INSTALLATION:
Extract the zip file and you'll get 2 folders; Aircraft and Output. Drop those folders in X-Plane's root directory, and make sure to merge folders.
    About the livery:
That's All, Brother is a Douglas C-47 Skytrain aircraft (the military version of the civilian DC-3) that led the formation of 800 others from which approximately 13,000 U.S. paratroopers jumped on D-Day, June 6, 1944, the beginning of the liberation of France in the last two years of World War II. After the war it was returned to the United States and sold to civilian owners, eventually falling victim to neglect until it was found in an Oshkosh, Wisconsin, boneyard in 2015, facing imminent disassembly to be converted into a modern turbine aircraft. It has since been restored and is part of the Commemorative Air Force. (source: Wikipedia)

  7. JAL 1964 Tokyo Olympics livery PMDG DC-6

Japan Airlines 1964 Tokyo Olympics livery.
    Reg:JA6206

The livery differs from the standard only with the Tokyo Olympics logo at the front and the Olympic Flame text at the rear right fuselage.
This aircraft carried the Olympic flame from Athens and was painted with the olympic additions for the duration of 1963-1964

There are some interesting features to this livery. For example a very unique Douglas logo at the rear door.

  9. Southern DC3 - ZK-AMY

This is a livery-paint for the LES DC3.
It depicts the Southern DC3 ZK-AMY – more or less, within the restrictions of the model, skills – and time available.
While i've been working on this for quite a long time, life 's been quicker than me – when i started this paint-job for the LES DC3, ZK-AMY was still flying, operated by the Southern DC3 Trust in Canterbury, New Zealand, on scenic flights over Christchurch or charters around Canterbury.
The maintenance service fallen due at the end of January this year would have taken the Southern DC3 Trust $50.000 to get ZK-AMY through, so the Trust decided to retire her. ZK-AMY was gifted to the Ashburton Aviation Museum where she is on exhibition now.
Main exterior paint files (fuselage and wings) are in 4K resolution, which allows really high detail. A lot of effort was laid in detailed an accurate rivets and platelines in combination with enhanced normals to achieve a highly detailed surface.
Cockpit paint files try to come close to the real one. The model's layout is somewhat different from the original so a couple of elements were added to to reproduce the look and feel of the AMY's panel and cockpit appearance.
The passenger cabin also gives an impression of the AMY's one cabin within the possibilities of the model. The main files are in 4K too for better detail.
    How to install:
Unzip "SouthernDC3_ZK-AMY" to a temp-folder. Place folder named "SouthernDC3_ZK-AMY" in the "Douglas DC-3" liveries folder.
    For X-Plane 9:
Some of the exterior and cabin textures are in 4K resolution for better detail, so if you use XP9, place the 2K files in the "XP9_2K"-folder into the "SouthernDC3_ZK-AMY /objects"-folder, overwriting the existing 4K-ones.
If you like to use the added propdisk with white/red/white tips, just place the file "LES_Douglas_DC-3(Wheels)_prop" in the "X-Aviation/Douglas DC-3" main-folder, overwriting the existing file (backup-file of the original one included).
Have fun and hope you enjoy it.

  13. Buffalo C-GPNR DC3 / C47

Buffalo C-GPNR ("Buffalo-Joe" McBryan`s favorit plane) for the LES DC3/C47
Probably the most famous flying C47 these days, we even can say she is a movie-star.
Making a repaint wich already exists is always tricky , people start to compare and gues which one is the best.
Be assured I do not like to see it as a competition.
Even more tricky is making a repaint based on a default livery wich comes with the aircraft ,
Normally I do not make paints on request , let alone ,one based on an existing defeault livery..
For this "movie-star" I am happy to make an exception.
Taking the default LES DC3 in its default Buffalo livery to start with was quiet logic.
In the end not much of this original livery has left the way it was , shapes were changed , text reshaped and logos reversed.
Neverteless there are some lines and shapes wich I did not enterely by myself.
My main goal was to reproduce a C-GPNR wich comes as close to reality as I am abble to make it.
Big problem is the fact the plane changed its looks so many times ( as all pretty girls do ) , its hard to tell exactly how and what.
    Outside made close to reality.
Cockpit colors giving a C-GPNR experience.
    Cabin ,giving a Buffalo-Air feeling.
I hope you`ll enjoy this flying legend.

  14. DC3 Swissair HB-IRD

This is a livery-paint for the LES DC3.

It depicts – more or less – within the restrictions of the model, the Swissair-DC3 HB-IRD.
This was one of several ex-military DC-3/C-47s Swissair bought in 1946/47. It was built as C47B-5-DK with USAAF serial 43-48793 and flew for Swissair from 1946, used as a freighter, operating postal services. In 1950 it was sold to Israel where it was in service for Arkia and the Israeli Air Force. In 1999 it was transferred to the USA, registered as N472D and flew until 2006.

Swissair planes in this period had an overall bare metal skin, logo and lettering on the fuselage and the red fin with the white swiss-cross. Although i'm aware that real reflections on a shiny bare metal skin can't be exactly reproduced in X-Plane, i tried to give it the appearance of such a surface. As just for a bare metal skin the lines of rivets and platelines determine the appearance a lot, my aim was to depict these as accurate as possible, added normal-maps to reproduce the uneven riveted surface and 3d-detail.

As there's only one paint-file available for both of the wings, the big registration markings on top and underneath the wings can't be reproduced.

The livery includes cockpit and cargo-cabin, adapted from the pictures available at the eth-library as far as possible within the possibilities of the model. Though colours are merely an assumption as these photos are black and white only.

The plane in it's early configuration as shown here had no de-icing-systems, so be careful and avoid flying in icy weather conditions (markings on the related switches are removed - of course the system would work if you turn them on).

I want to thank LES for their exceptionally model of the DC3 and most of all Leen de Jager, whose paintwork and discussions gave me a lot of hints and inspiration.

    How to install:
    Unzip "Swissair_HB-IRD" to a temp-folder and read the "_readme_first.pdf":

Place folder named "Swissair_HB-IRD" in the liveries folder.

    For X-Plane 9:
The cabin-textures are in 4K resolution for better detail, so if you use XP9, place the 2K cabin-files in the "Cabin_XP9_2K"-folder into the "Swissair_HB-IRD/objects"-folder, overwriting the existing 4K-ones.

If you like to use the added propdisk with a slightly grey shade to reproduce the reflections of the metal propblades in front of dark backgrounds, just pace the file "LES_Douglas_DC-3(Wheels)_prop" in the "X-Aviation/Douglas DC-3" main-folder, overwriting the existing file (backup-file of the original included)

Have fun and hope you enjoy it.

  15. French Marine version for XPFR Caudron Simoun

Simoun Caudron C-635 French Marine livery
by Leen "Flybike" de Jager for the Simoun Coudron C-635 available on XPFR.(Coudron is with an "o" there)
This livery is not exact depicting a (former) existing livery , due to a lack of photomaterial showing one.
Nevertheless I tried to come close to something "looking genuine".
    How to install:
Unzip French Marine into a temp folder and read the Caudron Simoun French Marine .pdf

  16. DC-3 Rosinenbomber

This a livery for the LES Douglas DC3.
First of all i want to thank LES for their model, it's really one of my favorites.
A very good model like this inspires me (like others before). My intention was to make it look a little more like the real thing by adding the lines of joints and rivets, more or less accurate, like original aircraft (yes, maybe that's typical german …).
I also created normal-maps, made by using the try and error method and looking how it works. Just after work was done, i read here in the forums that there a plug-ins available to create them. But i think it works pretty well, so i'll leave them for now.
For the first try i chose the Berlin "Rosinenbomber" (which is already included in the models liveries pack) as i found a lot of pictures available on the web.
I tried to depict it most accurately to the original airplane (within the restrictions of the model and my skills) with it's dark silver paint covered all over, only the engine cowlings spared out in bare metal, it's black typeface and markings of emergency exits. With it's mostly plain livery it's just the joints and rivets (and the somewhat crumpled old surface) that characterize the appearance of the airplane much more than with a coloured one.
Leen de Jager's impressing liveries with special cockpits included, made me add specific cockpit and cabin liveries too.
The airplane was built in 1944 and served as an original "Rosinenbomber" in the Berlin Airlift, then flew under the registration G-AMPZ for various airlines in Britain, least Air Atlantique. From there it was transferred to Air Service Berlin where it was used for round trips.
The military green cockpit of the former C47 was painted all over in black, cockpit walls without coverings, panel and all the rest looking somewhat stuck together- it appears a bit dark and disorderly, but that's what the original looks like, concerning to the pictures available.
Unfortunately the plane had a crash landing in june 2011 after the crank shaft in the right engine broke shortly after take off. The crew succeeded in an emergency landing in a field nearby the new Berlin Schöneberg Airport construction site. Fortunately no one was seriously injured, but the plane was damaged and is being restored now. This takes more time and money as first estimated, but hopefully the airplane will fly for round trips over Berlin skies once again.
    How to install:
Just unzip "D-CXXX Rosinenbomber" into a temp-folder an read the "_readme_first.pdf".
    Hope you enjoy it.

  17. Aer Lingus DC-3

The Aer Lingus EI-ACE Douglas DC-3 was the company's second oldest Dakota. Very little information about this aircraft is known. According to it's serial number, cn 42956 was sold to Royal Nepal Airlines. On July 12, 1969, while on a flight from Katmandu to Simra, the DC-3 collided with trees on a cloud covered mountain summit. The plane was 10 miles from its destination when it crashed. Weather was poor at the time of the accident. All aboard lost their lives that day.
    Installation:

This is a skinset for the default Stinson Sentinel in X-Plane.
    MIND!!
This is not a livery to be build in the usual way.
I added normal files to the plane and added and changed some other things too.
Unzip Stinson L5 PH-SEN upload.zip to your desktop and make sure to read the enclosed ReadmeFIRST.PDF
If not installed exactly as described normal mapping will not work.

  23. 118527 Jiminy Cricket for the LES DC3

    118527 Jiminy Cricket
This is a livery-paint for the Leading Edge Simulations Douglas DC3/C47.
Paint made by Leen "Flybike" de Jager
This paint depicts (more or less, within the limitations of the model and its painter) the C47-D ,118527 "Jiminy Cricket "
    Historical Note:
"Jiminy Cricket" is depicted as it flew for the Sicily operation in improvised night camouflage.
It was one of the original 52 C-47s that deployed to Egypt with the 316thTCG in December 1942.
"Jiminy Cricket" was one of the first from the 316th Sq. ATC, to visit Project 19, delivering worn out parts and returning rebuilt
    engines to the RAF.
It eventually took part in the invasion of Sicily, where, the pilot, Sgt. George Quisenberry received wounds from German FLAK.
The shell destroyed the nose of the Aircraft, knocking out all instruments except the stand by compass.
Jiminy carried the crew back with nothing but the moon and the sticking standby compass.
Jiminy Cricket was repaired and served through May 1, 1947, then was "salvaged"
The skin-set includes cockpit- and (freighter-) cabin textures as well.
    Passenger-seats, luggage-racks ,airco etc.removed from the plane.( its a freighter now !!)
Livery dedicated panel and cockpit colors

  24. Shabby-old-panel for the LES DC3 / C47

    Shabby-old-panel for the LES DC3 / C47
    by Leen "Flybike" de Jager
Last weeks I got requests for making an old, a bit worn out, cockpit ( panel, yokes and consoles) for the Leading Edge Simulations DC3/C47.
Suitable for those who really want to fly the plane on one of its last trips or experiece some real risky smuggling-adventures in an airplane wich is.................................you know.
Or better said flying an old bird.................to its restoration.
This panel comes with dark-grey upholstery and floor.
If you want to use the old panel in a livery having another colored upholstery and floor just remove the file named InnerWall.png from this download ( leave InnerWall_NML.png were it is.)
    How to implement?
Just unzip the contents of this zip file into the objects-folder of the livery you want to get the old panel..
Make a backup/copy from this livery first , you might not dare to fly my panel.....it does not look so trustworthy.
    Have fun and enjoy
