  1. Next Project - NZWN Wellington New Zealand Charlie has done some buildings and objects for this. I'll concentrate solely on doing the underlying orthos. I'll also try to keep this one XP9 friendly (using OpensceneryX stuff and no lighting/facades/buildings). I have 2 groups of images for this one: 1. General City Ortho at 2.5m This set covers everything - i.e the entire city is covered, all the way through the bay up to the Hutt valley 2. High-Res Airport-Only ortho at 0.1 meter Same resolution that NZCH was & I expect simmilar good results once TIF->PNG->DDS compressed Again, much ike NZCH, only the airport will be done in super-hi-res. (BTW, This Hi-Res Imagery cost me $50 or so just for that little airport section.. the entire city would be out of the question, $$ cost wise, hence the low-cost 2.5m for the rest of the city/valley). I expect this to be (once again) a free package. I will also post progress over the weeks. Go team! =) - CK.
  2. A new series of videos has just started on YouTube titled "X-Plane Ultra-Realism for FREE". No prior knowledge of X-Plane or scenery is required. Every step is described. Designed for beginner to intermediate (though there are occasional tips, tricks and products that may benefit all, no matter your experience level). Promo video is here: Subscribe here for the rest of the series: http://www.youtube.com/user/MrCobolman?sub_confirmation=1
  3. File Name: KEDC - Austin Executive Airport File Submitter: jagipson File Submitted: 20 Jan 2015 File Category: DSF Scenery Packages X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10 Requirements: opensceneryx (Optional, highly recommended) X-Plane 10 ( well maybe >= 9.6 but untested The main hanger, service hanger, covered apron and terminal were all hand-drawn using Google Sketchup and some photos. The remainder of the objects are X-plane 10 standard library and OpenSceneryX library objects. This is the first in a series I will release aptly-named Minor Airports of Central Texas which will also feature KGTU (Georgetown), KHYI (San Marcos Municipal Airport), and T86 (Gillespie County Airport, featuring the hanger hotel, a popular getaway for puddle jumpers). This is the new Austin Executive Airport, located next to the CWK VOR. It is a private endeavor which was opened as a releaver for Austin Bergstrom.I've personally never been there - I've constructed the airport from photos and satellite photography. If any RW pilots have been there, or go there, please send me some photos so I can make improvements.I hope you enjoy it. See you on Vatsim. Click here to download this file

  5. Hi, this is for X-plane 10 a great scenery of Dubai and Dubai airport????
  6. Since uploading 10.30 I have had some scenery problems. I have attached some screenshots. The problem is some blue hatched areas in the UK photo scenery and the lights, airport lights, PAPI etc appearing as white squares. I have reordered the custom scenery file as suggested on the forum but the problem persists. I reloaded x-plane several times with a variety of planes including the default Cessna 172 as also suggested but still no joy. I have a feeling the problem is not necessarily related to 10.30 but a perhaps a corrupt file. I have since uninstalled SkyMaxx Pro and the problem disappeared. I then loaded ver 1.3.3 in and that works fine. I upgraded again to ver 2.0, doing the proper uninstall of 1.3.3 and the problem returned to that shown in the screen shots. I am now flying with ver 1.3.3 with no problems. I think this is a problem with the UK photo scenery or X-Plane 10.30 or both. Any comments or ideas welcome.
  7. Can someone clarify for me which Simheaven Scenery I should download is it the OSM Scenery or the Photo Scenery and do you still need to download the “X-Plane 10 HD Scenery Mesh v2″ Scenery. I find there website and instruction a little confusing and if the truth be known I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box. Thanks
  8. I just downloaded the newest version of MeshTool in hopes of converting some of my water databases into X-Plane scenery. Problem I'm having is that there is no goo manual for this tool that I can find. I see that it's a command line program, so I'm assuming that I simply drap and drop my .shp files into the program? What attributes do I need in my .dbf so that it'll know what I want it to do? Does anyone know of a good tutorial or a walk through so I can get my feet wet? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. All, For my scenery project I used the LIGHT_SPILL_CUSTOM light to create an omni directional light that easily can be adapted in color by using the RGB parameters. This works great however these lights are always ON, day and night. Is there a way to let these lights be switched together with all other lighting in X-plane? I know there is a dataref involved in this light parameter but I'm not sure if that is the way to control it. Anybody her knows how to do this? Thanks Lizz
  10. Hi! I attach a promo video of the scenery "Tagoror 2.0: The Archipelago" which will be released in a few days... More info at http://www.x-plane.e....php?topic=8516 Cestomano (www.transportesaereosglobales.blogspot.com)
  11. Hi folks, I am putting some new scenery packages together. Mostly just small regional airports. Plus, I want to redo my EIWF one that I have over at x-plane.org (soon to be posted here instead) but having an issue that I find confusing. I have World Editor (WED) and Overlay Editor, which I use to create sceneries. However, I want to be able to perfectly align and shape taxiways etc in WED but unable to. If I open WED, and click Preferences, I get a dialog that says WED has no preferences. I want to get the same as the attached image but missing part 2 and also when trying to import a background image for guidance it sends the runways half way around the world. Any ideas?
  12. I love flying in this region and would like to know if you guys will be planning on making the rest of the other islands as well? I would love to find a one stop place to get the entire chain of islands. Especially the Big Island with its Mauna Kea observatory and South Point windfarms, that island is extremely beautiful. Can't really find any decent scenery for X-Plane 10.20 now that its finally 64bit compatible. Please I hope this is in the future roadmap for this. I would definitely buy this and I'm sure many others would as well.
  13. A short dusk circuit around Harvey Field (WIP), Snohomish WA.

  15. Hi, I am trying to bring a GEOTIFF into WED but I'm having an issue. When the image is placed it just shows as a blank image. I created the GEOTIFF using Global Mapper. I set control points in Google Earth, saved the image, brought it into Global Mapper, Rectified the image, and exported it as a GEOTIFF. But when I tell WED to open it, WED only displays a blank image. I tried exporting it as a kmz to make sure my control points were accurate and everything lined up as it should, so I know my control is accurate. I have tried using other formats with the same result. I'm using wed_win_110r1 on Windows 7 64-bit if that helps. I'll attach my tiff if anyone else wants to see if it loads right for them scrf-2.tiff
  16. Hi there, I'm looking at a number of Aerosoft add-ons at the moment, but I wonder if anyone could offer an opinion on the following: VFR Photo Scenery Bundle 1-4 http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?action=article_detail&s_supplier_aid=12407&s_design=DEFAULT&shopfilter_category=Flight%20Simulation&s_language=english I live in Jersey so it'd be good to look at some enhanced scenery for the UK, but I have some questions first in terms of guidance please. 1.) Will this scenery be ok with XP10s autogen technology, in that will it "conflict" in terms of what buildings and roads are displayed versus the photo scenery that this will use? 2.) Will the autogen (roads/buildings) etc still use the OpenStreet map "underneath" or will this scenery "override" those settings? 3.) Given that I fly a lot of regional IFR (FL180-240) will I be "wasting" my time with this scenery pack as it's "designed" to be used at a lower level VFR? 4.) Generally speaking, are there any specific "Rendering" settings I should adhere to to get the most/functional use out of the scenery? (I'd like to know up front if I need to use "extreme res" and uncompressed textures etc - which is a bit beyond the limit of my 560Ti at the moment. 5.) Finally, (I wonder if anybody actually owns this scenery or the South West pack at least!) would anyone know if the coverage includes the Channel Islands?) As you can probably imagine, Jersey is not more than a Leelu-style "dot" on the world map, so in terms of XP10 autogen there isn't much there, ahem. I know it can be accused of being a bit of a "backward" island, but we have more than three roads and 8 houses!! Thanks very much for any advice or experience of this product that you might have. Kind regards, James
  17. Page Field (KFMY) is a popular GA airport in Fort Myers, Florida. It's a perfect airport for flight training, where I logged 20 hours or so back in 2000. Since then the airport has grown, both in aircraft population and infrastructure. If you are into GA flying, or business jets as large as 727s, this is the hub for you. Page Field is also a great airport for cross country flying. Located in Southwestern Florida, it's easily accessible to Orlando, Lakeland, Tampa, St. Pete, Palm Beach, Vero, Miami, Key West, Naples, and it's nearby companion, KRSW. My goal was to make this airport as realistic as possible for the sake of practicing IFR cross country procedures. This is my first airport scenery endeavor, and I did my best to recreate FMY and its infrastructure, including a usable Class C airspace, for X-Plane 10. Here's what I came up with: Completely accurate airport layoutCustom Objects, accurately representing facilities including Base Ops (FBO), hangars, tarmac layout, parking lots, etc. Multiple starting points for single/multi-prop and jets, including hangar space and tie-down spots. Global lighting attached to every building.ATC pathsTaxiway and Runway signsOpenScenery X for aircraft population only (grouped and labeled; easily removable in WED)The only thing I'm missing is palm trees and some small shrubbery. I've tried some custom objects, but haven't quite taken to them yet. I have an orthophoto, but I'm not including it in the first version. I'm in the final stage of testing the file and organizing the folder contents. I hope to upload by next week. Let me just say that I am so grateful for the many of you whose how-to posts have been a huge help! I do have one logistical problem that I can't solve. Any ideas how to move what appears to be the airport VOR or glideslope beacon (as shown)? It doesn't show up in WED, and it's not where it *should be.* I'd like to not have to move the taxiway (which has only existed at FMY for a couple years now)
  18. Hi, I am currently working on a Dutch airport, Eindhoven (EHEH) which is a civil airport and also a MIl airforce base. Altough most of the airport operation is civil nowadays, the airport is still controlled by the Dutch Airforce. In fact the airport started as a MIL base only in the past. It is the homebase of the KC10 tankers which regularly are used for instruction flights as well, very nice as you can see those big aircraft taking off and practicing touch and goes many times. Very nice when RWY 22 is in use and sitting at the spotters place This is a work in progress and not finished yet. For me it's my first attempt into scenery design so the learning curve has been very steep. I was so disapointed there was no good XP10 compatible EHEH, so I decided to take a chance in designing it myself. I must say that I'm very inspired by the work of Frede as he makes very nice airport using only common available objects. To start with I purchased the FS2004 version of EHEH from OryxSim and converted it using FS2XPlane hoping that something usefull cam out, and actually it did. I asked Florian, the owner of OryxSim, if he could grand me the rights to use the objects specifically for this airport and he did. So besides a lot of Openscenery,RuScenery and legobrick items quite a number of EHE special objects have been used making it a 'real' eindhoven version, e.g. the terminal and a lot of logistical buidlings on the business side of the airport. I'm posting a few pictures here from the Military side as well as the civil side of the airport. I tried to stick to reality as much as possible but as this is a MIL facility there is not much information available and googlemaps is blurred for security reasons. So, I allowed myself some 'creative freedom' there where necessary. Even visiting the airport (I'm living very near it) does not give much more info besides of the Civil Apron, the rest of it is heavily unaccesable. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
  19. Page Field in Fort Myers, Florida is a perfect airport for GA operations in Southwest Florida--and for flying instruction. (It's where I flew my first solo) It's also my first airport scenery for X-Plane 10. I'm using Blender, Photoshop, and WED. I'm also programing G.I lighting on all models. My plan is to only use OpenSceneryX for static aircraft population. I'm currently working on the last few models, as well as some palm trees and plant vegetation. I plan to also increase the resolution on the ortho once I know how the FPS interacts with the models. The ATC paths will be included as well. If any of you are into GA operations in the Southeastern United States, hope this can be an asset for you--and a base to house your aircraft. (hangar real estate will be..available)
  20. I am currently developing scenery for EHEH, a dutch airport (ref my other topic about this). I develop this scenery on a different computer than the one I'm flying with. On both computers X-plane 10.10r3 is installed. The installation is identical although the flying system has much more scenery installed then the development system. Normally I develop the scenery using WED and OverlayEditor and test the progress on the development computer itself before transferring it to the flying computer. This worked fine until today when I encountered a nasty issue. I made some additions to the scenery package, tested it on the development computer and it loaded fine. I could observe the additions I made to the scenery, nothing strange. Then I decided to transfer it to the flying computer for a flight test and this computer crashes on loading the scenery. Disabling the package in the scenery_packs.ini file solves the issue, loading another airport at startup also gives no problem. So it seems to be specific for the EHEH package itself. I tried to troubleshoot the problem by eliminating some recent additions in the package that might be interferring but without results. X-plane does not generate an error message but just crashes and presents me with the crash feedback screen. The log.txt and the crashlog.txt are attached to this post. Is there anybody who can have a look into the logfiles for any clues on this issue or have other hints to get rid of this nasty problem. It halted further development of this scenery as I do not want to make any further additions before this issue is solved. Regards, Lizz crash_log.txt Log.txt
  21. Hello All, Since we're nearing completion of the YSSY Airport Photo Scenery Project, I'd like to get all of your inputs for the next project we should take on. The Airports listed above I have short-listed, since they all have 10-15cm royalty-free orthophoto tiles available for them. They also have existing X-Plane objects made for them: - YPAD and YMML we can derive permission from the AussiePak's/VOZ for inclusion. - CYYZ There is an excellent FSX conversion from 2007 which we could also derive rights to. - NZAA was done by the XPJets team back in the v7 run, and I have shown that they can be converted to XP8-OBJ spec for use in XP10; and would just need Robin/Dhruv's blessing to use. So, that being said, cast your vote. i would also suggest that if you vote for them, that you can also contribute somehow to the project (i.e. donation of objects, willingness to help Photoshop things, help beta test and give precise feedback (i.e. this line needs fixing w/coordinates and screenshots), and perhaps use WED1.2 to fix up taxiway markings or provide XP10 ATC/AI Airport "Flow" design for taxi routes, etc..) If you have another one not on this lease, use the "Write in"; but please ensure that (1) 10-15cm orthophotos already exist for it, and know where we can download them, and (2) ensure that there are existing objects somewhere (either in a free FSX conversion we could use, or an earlier X-Plane build), which we could attempt to derive rights from. I don't want to re-invent the wheel here. =) Thanks for the feedback! You can choose Multiple Responses in the poll above. - CK and all the helpers.
  22. Hey guys, might not be new for you, but this scenery made my yaw drop: It is just photo-realistic Copenhagen. After visiting Copenhagen in 3D at http://maps.nokia.com/3D/ a while ago, I thought thats a plausible world I digg for XP10. Now I see it in XP10. Woah. But I can not imagine buying every city I fly to. Isn't there a legal way to use existing 3D objects for non-commerical XP10 sceneries? Anyways, could you imagine taking a tour of the city after taking off from YSSY...? Hint, hint...
  23. Hi! I'm working on an application, wms2pol, which generates photographic sceneries from WMS servers (like Terraserver). The advantage against G. Earth is there are a lot of WMS servers over internet, most of them with free data and there are with ultrahigh resolution (10 cm/pixel). The application generates sceneries based in Drapped Polygons (mesh independent); because this, are useful for XP9 and XP10 but only for med-small areas (if you use it to generate a big 1x1 degree cell, XP will run out of memory... maybe until XP 64 bits). Example: ground textures of an airport. If you want to try beta version or see images or more information (in spanish), visit: http://www.x-plane.es/modules/smf/index.php?topic=6926.0 Ah, application is made in Python (open source and multi-plataform) An example: GCXO airport with 12,5 cm/pixel textures (zoom 20) from a local WMS server: GCXO airport with 100 cm/pixel textures (zoom 17) from a national WMS server:
